    Weird thing is that the Timberwolves were at their best defensively when Gobert was on the floor. He was -2 in 40 minutes and they lost by 15 points. KAT was -17 in about 37 minutes. McDaniels was -18 in 30 minutes. Gobert played solid. Jokic is just out of this world.

    I stand by the trade being a bad move long term (Minny is going to be in tax hell), but Gobert gets way too much crap. He's an excellent defensive player and even games he is "embarrassed" the +/- and advanced defensive stats say its not on him. Rudy's getting shamed for Jokic dropping 40. KAT was much worse on him and the MVP hit some insane shots. What can you do?

    @@bigmike11559 I think people like to find a player to blame when their team lose. When you see the opponent's Center drop 40 in 68% shooting it is really easy to blame your Center, let alone he is the DPOY. Feel kind of sad about him because those guys blaming Gobert (and some still use the fact than MIN win G2) simply does not watch the game. Gobert is the key that MIN can try to play defense when Jokic is on the floor. While his offense is kind of meh ad might hurt is team, MIN simply got destroyed when Gobert is off in these two games so playing offense and keep Gobert on the bench is just not going to work (MIN played 21min without Gobert in G4 and 5 and they are -31 in this period).

  • @kiki7170

    @kiki7170

    19 күн бұрын

    @@dreasdwolfox3435 Yeah seems like that. But I also think it is kind of a issue of how highlight works. Rudy is better at drop defense than 1 on 1 for his team (not because he is bad on 1 on 1 but if he goes 1 on 1, KAT and Naz simply don't have the read, which often lead to AG dunk or a Joker lay-up), which means the T-wolves rely him to help when the paint is penetrated. And because of this, he is always (one of) the guy who is contesting the shot, and highlights only show made shots so people think his defense is overrated.

You played great defense on Nikola, but he's just way too good. Even perfect defense isn't enough to stop him. This performances talk at lot more about the greatness of Nikola Jokic than anything else. Gobert you were there, you contested all the shots, you battle him, you tried to get him out of his spot, but this damn dude is too damn good. Doesn't matter the distance, the angle, the type of shot he just keep making tough shot,after tough shot, after tough shot. If we are labeling the best defenders base on the standard of stopping NIkola Jokic then we won't have any good defender in the league because this dude do it to everybody. AD,Bam,Embiid,Drayomond,GobertJJJ,Giannis,Victor,Chet. Jokic do some stew with all this guys. I don't understand the narrative on blaming Gobert and try to diminish how good he's on defense and take away his DpY.

    I used to play as a defenseman, sometimes you just can't beat the opposition to a spot, if that player is better than you, you need to adjust, cut the pass or just let him receive it but never get by you. Next thing is get help, yet that leaves someone else open, that's when you defend in zone and sometimes you just have to bow down to that 1 guy that's better than you. MVP vs DPOY!!! MVP took that one.

    Jokic has been vastly underrated and under appreciated. Denver has been a fly over basketball town for awhile, with little sprinkles of playoff appearances during the Melo/George Karl era. The national media refuses to regard and honor the nuggets still to this day as a real championship caliber competitor. Much less recognizing jokic as a possible all time great so early in his career. He is though distinctly that. We are watching the materialization and evolution of a player who simply cannot be defended when he at full bore.

    If he is choking, what about the others? The wolves are -30 when Gobert is on the bench in G4 and 5. If you watch the game, Gobert is litterly the only guy who can kind of contest Jokic (though just not working). KAT, Naz simply got bullied and KA is... I don't know how he is slower than Jokic. Give credit to Joker man, no need to blame a guy who is positioning well gut the opponent is just making shots.

    Mentally tough is right. You have almost no room for mistakes. Guard him close and try your best not to foul. Look at the distance of all those shots especially the hooks. They are almost the same distance from the basket. Get him off those spots to make it tougher. It takes a lot of focus as Jokic once he hit his spots you can take those shots to the bank.

  • @jalove7

    The key to winning this series? Is speed, up and down the court. That gives the Timberwolves an edge. If they force Jokic to keep up with the pace like in game 2? He'll never score 40 at that pace and the Timberwolves win. Rudy Gobert is way too slow. Keeping the pace slow works directly into the Nuggets favor. R. Gobert is unsuccessful against Jokic. The Timberwolves have to force Jokic to run, run, run, and then run some more. Any pace with Rudy in the game? Is the perfect pace to defeat the Timberwolves. Using Rudy to set multiple picks keeps the game at a slower pace and works directly into the Nuggets hands as a favor. This offensive strategy will work against the Timberwolves. Rudy is ineffective against Jokic. Jokic is probably laughing inside. I'm on my way to the next championship, when he sees Rudy on the court. Unless the Timberwolves make adjustments to make Jokic run, to exert himself near exhaustion level, this is the only edge the Timberwolves have speed. Otherwise this series is over.

    Well Rudy bounced back, he is a very calm and poised individual, and it helps. He gets a lot of hate but it doesn't seem to affect him too much. Well except crying after not being All Star. But it is good to never panic and it showed in game 6 Also, people crucify Rudy for this game but he did have 18 points, so when compared to 40 of Jokić, it is not the worst ratio you can get considering that Rudy is not an offensive center and has zero plays called for him. For example KAT*Naz Reid should be obtaining a similar ratio of points to Aaron Gordon so they would be more or less equal on the bigs duel, and then Ant and them guys outside should dominate Denver wings and win the game there.
