Very educational. I feel sorry for the other ones who just showed up to make a pseudo-critique of communism / the Left. Your purpose is clearly to educate about the historical conditions at the time and to show (also) the response of the other side. Free debate!

i think "clarification" is better. "enlightenment" will refer too strongly to the 18th century movement, while "aufklärung" in german is much more broad and commom. i think one example will sufice: "sexuelle Aufklärung" = "sex education".

i am brazilian and i took this argument from the translator note in the brazilian edition of adorno's and horkheimer's "dialetik der aufklärung" (in which the translator preferred "dialética do esclarecimento", same root as "clarification", instead of "dialética do iluminismo", same root as "enlightment"), but i think that it applies to english as well

Someone shot him, and he died later on from complications due to the assassination attempt. Thank god!
