RUD-16 rocket engine hotfire
Ғылым және технология
My smallest rocket engine. Trying different pressures, searching optimal perform. "High pressure" rocket engine (not really but what I have made).
Using ethanol (74 % by weight) and gaseous oxygen. Regenerative cooled with fuel.
Not so big thrust but it is more economical than my previous rocket engines.
Big thrust with high propellant consumption or smaller thrust with low propellant consumption in a rocket - that is a question.

Keep at it! Always love to see your tests!
In order to achieve higher thrusts, look into changing your nozzle geometry to optimize for the gas mixture and velocity rather than upping the propellant pressures
respectable thrust from such a small package
Cool
Wow 👌
👍👍👍
Great work! using pure oxygen instead of compressed air seems like a good next step for my little rocket engine. What kind of regulators/valves/controllers are you using? I see you have a high torque servo for fuel regulation but is oxygen also servo driven? As an amateur liquid rocketeer, I have a great interest in your projects and hope to see more projects like this. Stay safe!

Normal oxygen regulator. For fuel/nitrogen any regulator is ok. I use normal ball valves and they are servo driven.
Nice Mach diamonds!
Have you considered liquid nitrous oxide as an oxidiser? Denser than o2 gas and you can pressurise with the same inert gas as the fuel tank.
