Always love watching and listening to Hummingbirds. 30 years, my late son, who had terminal cancer, for his Make-A-Wish gift he chose a video camera, so I had a camera tripod and we got a couple of feeders and set them up so he could make videos of them, along with the chickens and turkeys on his Grandfather's hobby farm in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. Thanks for the video, it brought back great memories.

Perfect timing for this video. On Saturday, I hung out my very first hummingbird feeder. I expected it would take weeks for any birds to find it. To my amazement, I was sitting outside Sunday and watched a hummingbird come up to the feeder. It was really exciting! I was kind of far away to be able to tell any colors of the bird and when I tried to come inside and grab my camera, I guess I scared him off. I can't wait to get footage of one drinking. Thanks so much for this post.

NGW or maybe AP did a documentary on hummingbirds. I believe the title was "Jeweled Messengers". It was an amazing look into the many different hummers there are. They are my favorite bird. I had to bring the feeder inside every night so it wouldn't freeze, then put it back out first thing every morning. Thank you so much for sharing!! See you next time. ❤❤❤

Thank you! We don't have these beauties in my part of Texas. My mother lives in the country, and she had a hummer feeder out front. One year, she had a male hummer find her in the garden, and he got in her face fussing. She swatted at him, but he wouldn't leave! Finally she remembered: the feeder was empty. Just curious, how many of you put feeders out, and you use the 'low sugar' recipe recommended? My mother didn't know about the recommendations: she was just adding enough sugar that she could taste it, then put the solution in the feeder. When she decreased the amount of sugar she used: THE HUMMERS WOULDN'T EAT IT. She went back to her own recipe, and the hummers came back.

This was fun to watch. We don't see this behavior here in Michigan. We rarely see more than one at a time unless it's one being chased out of the area by another one. Maybe it's because they nest here. (?) They'll arrive about May 1st.

Beautiful Hummers!!!!, nice footage!! Do you know that when Hummingbirds fight, they pull the tongue of their opponent all the way out where they are unable to put it back in??? Sad but true, I've had to take a couple to a rescue place where they will care for the little hummers with their tongue out they cannot eat. This place has special feeders to help them to eat and live. They are very territorial on one bottle. I love your videos, thank-you for posting😊

There are so many and where I live, there are only about 15 tops that stay for the summer and the males are always fighting and laying claim to the feeder. My brother and Dad live on the same street and this is the same for their feeders as well. When I have the Yellow Jackets bother the feeders, I use my salt gun and shoot them. Then no more bee''s.

Put out more feeders. A dozen feeders will support more than a hundred hummers and they switch back and forth and fight and eat and raise young. They do the same on blooming trees. That's just what they do.
We loved your video.
Amazing
Fascinating! Thanks! M
My male Ruby's never group feed like this. I have 2 nesting pairs every season, and I have to hide the feeders behind my Pine trees. It works, but they find each other and joust.🤔Great footage Tim! Thankyou!!
I love your videos, thank-you for posting😊
nice. I'm still waiting to see the first one at my feeder this year.
absolutely great video! won’t you share additional videos of the same theme? an artist 👩🎨
Who the hell gives a video like this a thumbs down?
Hi , I assume this your family’s property you go to , to get cam footage of foxes (I think) in the past. I like your technique with closeups of the feeder and the plant perch. Thanks again for your patience. Excellent footage.
Aggressive little boogers. LOL. :-)
Even the bees come in there.
Look at em go
Nice.
My two are due back any day now Henry and Harold. If I don't have the feeder out they squeak and dive bomb my head. They know the exact nail the feeder goes on. I put out a bowl of sugar water for the bees so they don't sting the birds.

Smart to do the bowl for the bees too....
Stunning footage. What did you use to film it?

Thanks Sean. I was using a Canon 5D Mark 3 DSLR and a 100-400mm lens.
I love your great shots of the Hummingbirds.
It seems the birds are afraid of the bees as well as most of us
Tim I watch all your videos and am considering delving into the trail cam world for a hobby. Yes price is a factor but I go for function always. Any advice for a newby?

I prefer Browning trail cameras. Check out the Strike Force line.
I haven’t been able to get shots like these but I was able to film one sitting in place for a few minutes. Also uploaded it to my channel along with other birds. What is the name of the feeder that is hanging down and they drink it while looking up?

I'm not sure what it's called but I have seen a few like that there's a little ball bearing in that red tip that keeps the liquid from dripping out.

Tim Harrell I think I found it. It’s on amazon and you search “Hummingbird Feeder Tube with Drip Resistant Tip”. Also, do you have a recommendation for a $100 or less trail camera? I’m thinking of getting the $150 Browning Strike Force HD Pro X.
When in flight next to the bee they resemble insects.
Great video Tim. I live in B’ham, AL and we always maintain a feeder for the hummingbirds during spring and summer but they haven’t came back this spring like in the past. Last year there were so many they would fight over a drinking hole. Any ideas why they’re not here this year?

Not sure why they are not up there yet. My parents already have some up in NC.
Love your videos, particularly the swamp trail ones, but I noticed you don't have any playlists or compilations up. If you want someone to put some together let me know. Also couldn't find you on Twitter could do something there. Alternatively can you just make a playlist of swap trail videos please?
Beautiful sweet birds but they can be very aggressive too.
Their eyes r almost penguin like
