It's awesome Cleetus gives him the praise he deserves cuz he put in a ton of work into that car and not just in this latest turbo setup. Working in that shop by himself probably most the time. And building his own car probably after hours or whenever he had spare time. It's always cool to see someone's hard work paid off. Hopefully they don't break for awhile and they can just have fun with them!

@@nyastclair8174 Eeeeh, not aerodynamics. It's the 1/8th mile that Leroy reeaaallly needs to make up. Ruby and Leroy are trapping nearly the same at the 1/4 but while Ruby's running low 5's and even a 4.9 in the 1/8, Leroy's running around 5.40, 5.30

First glimpse of Ruby at auction house parking lot: Cleetus says: "Oh no! This thing has a piece of crap truck motor." James replies: "Hang on. This thing might have potential." 900 million upgrades later Cleetus says: "That was the fastest pass of my LIFE!" Well done gentlemen. You earned every millisecond.

well compared to the engine that was supposed to be in it, it was a piece of crap. i dont know why they ever even cared. they drop TS crates in literally everything. not that thats a bad thing but had it had the LS in it, they wouldve did something to the engine, and it would still have the same engine it has now.

@@HotDogBunN2YG Yeah, what they did with Neighbor was interesting, pulling a motor out of that wrecked GT500, but now it's got some crate motor in it, cause they got excited with nitrous. They're focusing more now on their fastest cars, which all have the 427 cause it makes a ton of power and is easy enough to install. They handmade the turbo kit and did everything else with the car, it's not like they didn't build the car cause they put a 427 in it.

The connection cleet and James have with this audience is incredible. Seeing everyone’s comments about how happy they are for you guys is genuinely heartwarming. Keep up the good work y’all!

James just rebuilt and rewired everything. Cleetus changed kevins base tune to get it to idle. That was all James.

No lie there was a hint of a wheelie on that pass by Ruby! She launched like a bat out of hell! It has been an awesome journey seeing Ruby go from a auction junker to 7 second pass! Awesome work Cleet, James and the crew!

That’s nothing but brotherhood and teamwork. That humbleness speaks volumes with you guys

8:15 paint a line on the shaft. That way if the paint isn’t visible it’s not all the way out. Just a simple witness mark that can be checked when the parachute is armed.

@@pyrocl0 think they've said before during a previous turbo swap that they could put it in a better spot but that turbo location is basically ruby's signature feature so they've continued to put the turbo there.

@@sawspitfire422 as we are seeing with Ruby, Powerglides are a significant limitation in quarter-mile racing. Great in the eighth, but over 1320 feet you are going to need at least three gears or else you'll hit a brick wall in terms of mph. Ruby has gone faster than Leroy purely because Leroy can't hook straight and launch smoothly. Leroy makes WAY more MPH up top.

I felt the freedom straight through my headset. (in the echoey announcer voice) Hell Yeah BROTHER!! This brought a smile to my face. Seeing all the work you guys put in over the years to make Ruby such a competitor, now it is straight up legendary.

So stoked for you guys. James and Garrett make such a good team and all the work James put into the turbo system on Ruby is really showing off. You could tell just how hard Ruby left even in video. Cant wait to see if it goes deeper into the 7s and how much "faster" the 240 goes.

Yeeeeeyee!!! Ruby you absolute unit, finally got not just a 7 second pass but went 7.74! That’s going down in the history books as the most legendary moment since ole Leroy ran his first 7 second pass. I won’t be forgetting this for a very long time.

I seriously felt myself tear up. First time a you tube video made me do that. The work, dedication, and pure joy that goes into these cars is transcendent of typical motorsports. Although it may never happen, I just want to shake both your hands and say thank you. So thankful you allow me to be a part of your life!

I could not have been cheesing any harder when Ruby ran her pass. My face hurts :) I'm so proud of you guys! Let's goooooo!!!!

I remember when ruby was sitting in the shop and the previous owner was telling them it was struck by lightning. Time flies and so does ruby!

There was a time where I couldn’t bare the idea of ruby topping Leroy and taking the crown in a sense, but through all the iterations and changes and races you guys competed at and for, I have to say I’ve never been more proud to see how far this little red C6 has come, well done brothers.

The journey of Ruby the Auction Corvette, from her humble beginning with that iron block truck engine to becoming a seven-second car is the kind of thing we need in these times.

Still got it - hard to drink coffee through a grin :) The last time I got warm fuzzies like this was watching the video of Tom McGilton cracking 200mph in the Tominator at Rocky Mountain Race Week while spreading a fellow drag racer's ashes from his chute, it was like she gave him a push. James and Cleetus have so much respect for each other don't they? Can't get enough of watching them giving each other all the credit they deserve :) They clearly have three seven second cars between them. Sevens are hard.

Two different animals. Anyone that can peddle a stick car to a 7.80 has my respect. You could stick any decent driver in Ruby and run 7s. It takes a very special person to push Leroy into the sevens. Just watch some Leroy video. If you think that's an easy ride...

Listening to the excitement in Cleets voice as he was driving back and his first words to James are "It was all you.". Y'all I got a few tears in my bartleskeet that was so perfect.

She knew James was close the first round but couldn't see her, thats why she shut down. Second time he was there and she went " Watch this" for him.

The days of Leroy driving AROUND Ruby are over.

Leroy has been faster but it won't be long. It wouldn't be that hard to have Leroy go faster if they put the same amount of work in to him as they did Ruby.

@@OxBlitzkriegxO I'm just making a general comment about how Ruby has always ran like a car that hooks well with a powerglide. But Leroy obviously was trapping much higher mph. On RMRR, Ruby is out in front, but leroy hunts it down on the big end. But now, Ruby is trapping a similar speed as Leroy with the new turbo... so Leroy won't be catching up to Ruby on the big end anymore.

@@adrianwelgemoed9562 Exactly, in fact Leroy had made a 184.75 mph pass (8.02) recently day 5 at RMRW 2.0, and at World cup 2019 where he ran a 7.791 @ 186.43 in another. I think Leroy quickest is that 7.79 though, but has laid down many passes at or beyond 185 mph.
