Hey is it possible to make the closed captions only show up if someone opts in? The built-in ones look cool, and I’m sure are massively helpful for many people, but are soooo distracting for me. I often use captions so I get it, but never on this type of video. And these specific captions are so large that they block out other parts of your video, like the “idiotes” definition for example. Also, many people need specific color schemes, opacity, and size for the captions, and now they can’t really turn on their usual captions because it’d be a mess.

@@flyphoenixx I know how you feel, but there are certain individuals feeding their husband or wife behaviors too(called enablers). My stepdad was one of them when I was not on the picture she abused him. I'm always said "patriarchy or matriarchy are not love of certain gender, they hate both of them and hate more whom tried to stop them." This is not female or male problem, it is bullying and power trip, we must accept bullying and abusing have no gender. But changing mindset is hard to complish.

my daughter told me that during her first year of High School (in our city, it's 9th grade). It was a big new school, her friends from grade school had all made new friends, etc. I cried myself to sleep, I felt so bad for the poor kid. My husband & I coached her on how to make small talk, and how to start conversations. She joined the school newspaper, made tiny overtures to possible new friends, and slowly overcame her shyness. We were her biggest cheerleaders, & it was so awesome to see her take risks & to blossom. I've always believed that it's a parent's biggest job to provide a safe space for their kids to land, especially when the outside world is cruel, which it often is. My kids still call me when something makes them sad (they are now 27 and 30 years old), AND when they are excited about something. I feel absolutely privileged that they continue to trust me enough to share their lives with me.

It’s cruel and horrible to do regardless of a child (or honestly any human being)’s age but something additionally upsetting is that, developmentally, very young children don’t usually have the ability to perceive a beloved toy any differently than they would a close friend (stuffed animals especially are usually given names and are treated as close companions). So if a favorite toy is destroyed (or threatened to be destroyed) in front of a young child, it causes similar distress and can have a similar mental toll on them as if you were killing or threatening to kill a friend before their eyes. I forget the age range in which that lack of distinction is present but it was at least clear in the clip that hearing that threat was genuinely terrifying to that poor kid :(

The results of this are an avoidant attachment style, hostile attribution bias, a sense of foreshortened future, disordered eating, and PTSD flashbacks. I think the Disneyland prank is not that big of a deal. It’s super normal for big brothers to prank little siblings and if I were the parent, I would definitely give a small punishment, but on the inside I would be laughing too because that’s a funny story they can tell at each others weddings when they get older. It’s mean spirited and we want to discourage that in kids, but it’s also the reality of having siblings. Taking a kids privacy is abuse no matter what, but even grounding the boy would have been too much in my opinion. I would have had him do his brothers chores for a week.

I asked him what happened, and he said that he made a mistake doing laundry, and told me he now has to wear his ruined clothes and sleep on a mattress on the floor because of it. It was so upsetting. CPS was called, and I hope that he got the help he needed from them. That said, even if you aren’t mandated, if you see or hear something you should take it seriously. One of the items that Chad had to find a way to "pay" for was his homework that was due the next day and was a significant part of his grade in class. The two oldest cut ties with Ruby the moment they could do so. The oldest daughter called child protective services and the police for a welfare check on her siblings. Chad has disappeared from social media, sources say he is in college at BYU and keeping a low profile. Both kids would be barred from getting student financial aid due to parents income and I doubt that Ruby and Kevin are helping them pay their college expenses. Putting aside the fact that these parents exploited these poor children in the MOST irresponsible and vulnerable way….. So many things are wrong here. A child needs food for their BRAIN to grow and develop! It is also a child’s LITERAL JOB to push rules to LEARN where the boundaries and realistic consequences exist, AGE APPROPRIATELY. Not by their parents abusing their authority, bullying, and actually abusing them! Even as an adult I have forgotten my lunch at times. The consequences aren’t always that I go hungry all day. A child this age isn’t even capable of thinking that far ahead, most of the time. Her punishments are actual abuse, and these little clips aren’t even a fraction of the severity. So sad! It’s obvious by watching those videos he was well aware at the very least of the f*cked up happenings going on in his home to the children he helped create and yet did nothing but enable. Even if charged to a lesser degree neither he or that awful wench needs custody of their children or to be around children ever again.

Cause we all know that they did things that "they knew were best but the public or social media just wouldn't understand" ie tying your kid to a bed and starving them. These parents are disgusting. I just hope that they've gotten to some of the children in time to help them through the trauma and that the older kids are getting the help they need as well. I was kept isolated for most of my childhood, not allowedtohavefriends, verbally and emotionally controlled till I was 31, and even had controlling tactics used on me for over 7 year after I physically managed to get out of my parent's house. The best thing I did was go full no contact 12 years ago, even then my mom still stocked me for 3 years and I had fake moving out and selling my condo to stop her from following me. many of the behaviors those parents used were disturbing for me to see, because of CPTSD with my family. There was a KZread channel that the parent went for a video camera first before medical help when their child broke an arm... I never watched them after that. You could see how horrible some of these people are.

Get a scholarship for sport for college so he can leave and not do school close by. Its a common tactic. Either do well in a skill, runaway, put up with it, or explode and hurt the parents/family.

One of the items in the bag from the last clip was homework Chad left out, most likely because he had the audacity to go to the bathroom or dinner or being ordered away and leaving it unattended, knowing Ruby's behaviour. Ruby seemed to target Chad and Eve the most, or was the most vindictive to her oldest son and youngest daughter. There was a lot of stuff in the bag that mattered to her kids, but Chad's homework is the one that I remember most because he argued about having to turn it in or his grades would suffer, and Ruby uses bad grades as yet another reason to mistreat her children.

On top of all the other sh*t they put him and his siblings through, that was an awful thing to do. He doesn't have anything to feel embarrassed, ashamed or guilty about. That's how his parents should feel for how they treated him and his siblings.

Growing up I had no privacy. I was abused from basically birth. My grandmother would read my journals. She placed a key logger on the computer. I was homeless at 14 and pregnant by an 18 year old at 15. I've never read my kids private things. Gone through their rooms. My oldest is 23, middle is 19 and youngest is 9. We have great relationships, they talk to me about issues they have, they're responsible, they didn't have a child as a teen like myself, my mother, my grand mother, my great grandmother etc.. being strict and withholding food, privacy, love.. that's not how you raise good kids. Treating them like human beings, helping them learn how to be a person, process feelings, making sure they feel safe...that's how you raise good kids that turn into good adults.

I was not allowed to close the shared bedroom door to myself and my sisters room even as we changed and it has made a lasting impact on me. I had to get used to embarrassment.. and thats kind o hard to do. How dare a parent think their child is not a young human and an individual and therefore does not deserve autonomy and privacy. Its really disgusting predatory behavior and i would know because my dad also abused me sexually. These “parents” are not christian as they pretend to be. some of the items in the trash bag at the end of the video was literally the eldest sons HOMEWORK that was due the next day. the parents were literally going to throw away their chids homework and sacrifice his education to make some inane "point" and "teach a lesson" Highchool is stressful enough and I can only bet these are also the types of parents that would pressure their kids to get good grades....in the full clip you can really see the stress and anxiety and him trying to hold back the feeling of injustice/betrayal on the eldest sons face as he tries to tell his parents that he literally needs his homework for school tomorrow. that clip really was one that angered me because it shows how NOTHING is off limits to these parents, not even their education (which like i said, they will then probably get mad and punish them again if the kids come home with a bad grade because THEY threw away the homework!) its a complete self-perpetuating power trip.
