It'd be tough to get this LP back in the day because for the most part it was only available to commercial producers/ad firms. I got this LP in a giant lot (150+) of dewolfe records I bought about 6 years ago
for someone who’s been digging for twenty plus years and who’s seen the digger’s landscape shift over the last twenty plus years as well due to the internet, nothing comes remotely close to the feeling of going out in the open, finding and discovering some new sounds, taking them home to play in hopes of finding the illest samples known or unknown. an adrenaline rush that’s priceless. salute to those and of course to Madlib.

I first heard this melody as part of an album I now hold close to my heart, ‘Piñata’ by Freddie Gibbs and Madlib. This song is sampled on the track, ‘Thuggin’. I remember cycling around France in the summer of 2014 listening to this in my earphones. I was blown away by the composition, the evocative loop, the danger within it. It was my first time ever smoking and the honesty in Freddie’s lyrics just cut so beautifully against the sounds and I was left awe struck. Beautiful, beautiful song and such a joy to finally hear the original sample 6 years later.

This music feels like that I’m in a night red desert, walking and gazing up the sky with full of shining stars with hope...
Can we just appreciate how amazing this track is. From beginning to end it's godlike. Several sample gems hidden in just 1 track.
Since two members of Soft Machine are here and most of the comments came from Madlib, I propose a supergroup: Michael Ratledge - keyboards Karl Jenkins - oboe, saxophone Otis Jackson, Jr. (Madlib) - drums, percussion Marsha Hunt - vocals Imagine how strange that would be.
Like the way this kind of music makes you get into yourself, and makes you interpret life. No words, so you have to supply your own. No guide, so you have to think. For me the song gets real sweet and deep at 1:08. Just live and love and do good all your days. Peace.
