    @@JohnnyShikari Wow, great question and on point. I am capturing all the footage as we speak for the next video (4090 Founders thermals & teardown) and plan to address undervolting. Once I test undervolting on the 4090 (and showing it), I'll have a better understanding may be able to address your question better. Hope that helps

    I just bought a used 3090 with the same cooler and it runs very hot with 100% fans. I am thinking of sending it to warranty service somewhere in the EU. If they will not do anything with it, will try repasting everything and then undervolt a little. I just hope it will not melt inside my case (Corsair 4000x w/ 6 Corsair fans).

    I've not tried the 3090 version of this card. For 3090s, the memory on the backside can get very hot if that is being used heavily during load. 3080s, all the memory is on the front. It really shouldn't melt inside that case if its setup with decent airflow. If there is a lot of visual dust and debris on the cooler shroud, then popping it open, repasting & new thermal pads (get new ones in advance, dont rely on reusing the old ones) may make a solid difference, especially if you can clean the cooler shroud at the same time. Best, Vector

    Right on, the PNY 3080 is an absolute champ of a card. The stock cooler performance was solid, so it would depend on your sound tolerance. I had two of those cards at one time in different builds and they both performed at or above my expectations. So much so that I am considering PNY for the 4090, since it will also be a reference PCB and it appears Alphacool may have a waterblock for it near launch.

    Awesome man, I actually didn't notice any significant thermal improvements (it was already running at temps better than I expected with the stock cooler). I think it's a well-made card and the cooler is smaller and more compact than average, yet performs well.

So, I regret not having that data available, but I will do my best to provide that in the future. For what's it's worth, I found the card to run slightly better than expected on temps/noise. The 3080 doesn't have any memory on the backside, so the memory temps were perfectly fine. Hope that helps.

    what temps are you getting in full load?

  • @vectornetwork

    @vectornetwork

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your comment 🙏This card the PNY 3080 is currently in a Heatkiller water block that I'm thinking of putting into a SSUPD Meshilicious. When it was in its stock cooler, the GPU temps were fine, something normal and the memory temps were pretty cold, more than I expected--perhaps because there is only 10GB of it on this board. (I don't recall exact temps) If you are curious about the temps in my most recent watercooled soft tubing build on this channel, running a stress test in 3DMark like Time Spy or Port Royal, I'm getting somewhere low 80s for the GPU memory and GPU core something like 70s, maybe 80 max (a bit more than the ambient temp in the low 70s). The fans are running at approx. 1200 rpm. This is with the Heatkiller rads 360-L with 3x Phanteks T30s and 240-S with 2x Noctua A12x25. The temps stay fairly constant even under further load and the fans just pick speed to compensate. Hope that helps and thanks for asking 🙏

    Thanks for your comment 🙏 The PNY RTX 3080 is a suitable option. PNY is a long standing business (IIRC 30 or so years) located in NJ, USA. My understanding is that the produce cards for NVIDIA's Quadro line. They don't appear to spend that much on consumer marketing, so it is understandable that consumers aren't that familiar with the brand. From my experience, the cards are usually reference design (save on costs of customizing) and the cooler is typically no frills but certainly capable of the job (likely leveraging their experience with the Quadro line). My understanding is also that their warranty is comparable to other companies. Hope that helps.

    I almost bought this card but I was looking at the 3080 12gb and the Ti version. It was still $1100 at the time but I had a 30% "cash back" (store credit) for OfficeMax which would have generated $330 store credit after purchase. I ultimately decided against it as it would have still required the $1100 out of pocket and just in time, the other card I was looking at went on sale on Newegg for $729. The Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 12gb. Far better value!
