I have the same Tuf 3080; I changed the thermal pads under the backplate, and that improved my temps 10 to 12 degrees Celsius. Rather than throttling at 110, it’s now usually around 98 or 100... not great but better.

The ROG strix 3080s are pretty good on thermals. Mine run at 74-76C memory open air @98MH

@@NoobPatel only one and I mine when I am not using my pc only. I use a site that mines in ethereum and pays in bitcoin, but I can't tell you wether to mine or not. It depends on your economy and wether you are willing to spend large amounts of cash for the promise of a revenue in the future.

Thermal pads. You're leaving megahash on the table without them and hurting memory unnecessarily. My aorus 3080 dropped 30 deg and is rock solid at 100mh. Love the all in one case - totally baller.

Have you had experience with the 2080 Supers? I'm finding that at +1499 mem -350 clock 100%PL; w/ boostlock, voltage locked, and P2 state off I still struggle to maintain 45mh/s. It doesn't even hit PL when mining, only in stress testing and BMs. Card is stable at this tune in benchmarks, stress test, and games; but when mining I've had over 12 restarts in a 24hr period. Im befuddled by this, using T-Rex latest build. Current drivers, no DCH. Current windows, all things to be disabled are disabled. Minimum background process as well. Its a XC Hybrid

Thank you for the very informative video. I have a problem, maybe someone could help me. I purchased a similar set - Mineshop 8L. Its MB slightly differs from yours (no power sockets for fans, those are powered directly from PSU and no additional 6-pins power sockets for GPUs). MB model prints 'AK2980-D8P-65 ver.1.00' .It has pre-installed HiveOS. I tried to run it with 2 cards, 3080 and 3080Ti. Neither of them work. When it boots, I get an error 'Failed to allocate NvKmsKapiDevice' and subsequently 'Failed to register device'. I tried swapping cards into different slots, running them separately with no avail. Same error. Command nvidia-driver-update doesn't help. Also I noticed the motherboard's 24-pin power socket is not used. Is that ok? Otherwise the OS loads and I can see my rig from HiveOS portal with red GPUs (missing). Has anyone encountered something similar? Thank you.

Changed my TUF OC pads twice without any effect on memory temp, so yeah I wanna see a video guide from you man :)

@@alexzan1858 I did change them with better ones. Unless you think Gelid and Arctic are bad brand. I finally managed to bring down the beast after more trial and error using copper plate. 1.5mm with noctua paste on the vram. 2mm plate plus paste on the connecting side of gpu heatsink to the main heatsink. 2mm plate with pad and paste on the backplate. 95MH/s at 96C now 🙂

@@gr4yw4rd3n I have no idea what you just said. You just put thermal paste on top of the GPU core, between it and the heatsink. Gelid is ok if its the one with thermal conductivity of 12 W/mK. Fujipoly would be much better though with thermal conductivity of 17W/mK. It starts to matter the thicker the pad is. Also you can manually increase the fan speed and say keep it at 70% instead of letting it manually rise, to have it cooler.

I gotta know how you get multiple of the same card. I have a bunch of random ones.

The price is pretty insane though. My frame, fans, risers and mainboard cost 100 bucks in total: - frame: free (built from spare parts) - risers: $20 from eBay (4 pcs) - fans: $15 from eBay (8 pcs) - mb: $50-60 old one I had at home, was like $90 a couple of years ago

Are the front fans attached supposed to be spinning? I only see psu blowout air

i have 6 rtx 3080 hitting 615 hashrate without out air condtion and x2 stand fans running on full speed i cant go for 615 hashrate the max memorey temp 88 room temp 23c

İ have a galax or kfa2 (depends on region) 3080, ambient temp is 32C, works like a horse at 48C and its been 2 months. Never had a problem

I would really really really like to see a video on changing the thermal pads and especially to see how much of a difference that makes temperature and hashrate wise 😀

my 3080s do 100 mh/s , the pads MUST be changed, the stock ones are shit, front and back

dam glad i got 3070's 62 MH at like 110-120W, 50% fan speed, no issues lol

@@alexcarolan8825 yea all my cards 62.4 no issue, stales more likely your internet connection. Cards would produce invalid shares if memory was causing errors. Use wired connection if you dont already.

Mining chamber maybe you can help me, do i need a cmos battery? i have a box basically same as that from same shop, got 6 gpu’s in there been mining on hiveos for 2 months already its been fine havent had any issues boots fine but iv just realised, i never put a batter on the motherboard. Its been running without one for months i didnt even know what it did till today Do i need one? If i need one can i just stick it in now? Is it dangerous at all to just add one now? Hopefully someone can help ahah

@miningchamber : can you do a video on gminer. Specifically looking at overclocks within the miner to run the 3060 in windows. I have found msi afterburner not being reliable.

How is the 2500w power supply holding up?

put the power of the gpu on 230w, core - 200 and memory +1300 (afterburner) you will get 100 mh/s make sure memory junction temp is under 95 C so ur gpus last long

I initially had offset but now hiveos has absolute overclocking which saves more power, as for memory - NVIDIA in Hiveos doesn't take offset, it takes an absolute number

All the graphic cards we use are gaming graphics. They aren't just made for gaming they are just strong processors that you can use for gaming, mining, machine learning, etc.

Nice video.. have you thought about liquid cooling your rig? I'm getting into mining and heat dissipation is something I have been concerned with especially in the summer time.

In this video you place your rig where the fans are facing the wall, I guess if you turn the rig so the fans don't face the wall it will help the air flow and the fans to do better. I would've tried that.

As you learned, unless you are running your cards without shrouds (and you will likely only have luck with that if the fins support horizontal airflow) you will need to push towards the direction the cards are looking to exhaust. This generally also means breaking the PSU open and flipping those fans too to prevent potential air stall issues in there as well... If you honor that though, those cases are very efficient at cooling.

why do you make the outro so long and the intro so short?😂, greetings from Colombia.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the fans to be reversed to blow air in the same direction as the exhaust and have additional fans on the other side to suck air? Either way, I don't think that Server case is going to work to get you full speeds on 3080s because it places the GPU coolers too close to the backplate of the other GPU. That means they're sucking in hot air from that extremely hot backplate because there's no room to breathe. That plus 33 ambient is gonna make the cards overheat whether you replace the thermal pads or not.

Great video man, was wondering if a server case was worth it from a cost and efficiency perspective. Sad to see you had some issues but would love to know what you did to tweak it and get up to the performance you wanted. I'd appreciate a thermal pad swap for a 3080 or 3090, and saw someone else mention water cooling, so if you do that it'd make for a great video! Appreciate the great work brotha, take care!

Yes usually for the 3080s since they get hot but other cards my sweet spot is 60-70

Check online numbers on your gpu for example youl find many in miningchamber.com and then just calculate from there and make sure it does not surpass 80% of the PSU power

Why not just split them out to a second rig? I'm not sure why it's so important to pack so many cards on one rig. More rigs isn't as bad as people thing, you can use smaller PSU's, lighter cooling, and really help resolve the thermal issue with more spacing between cards and secondary fans to pump air away.

The server case with high-pressure fans are meant to be able to push out the heat in tight places/ Thats why the smaller the box and stronger the fans are the easier it is to move out the heat inside of it. After flipping the fans it surely helped alot too
