I have a 6 gpu mobo i am useing a CM V1000 for powering 1st 4 of them last 2 is powered by a CM 750. the CM v1000 has no problem because the Atx 24 pin is connected directly to the mobo. but the 24 pin of the CM750 is not connected to the mobo so i have to short the 3rd and 4th pin of the clip side by a paperclip. but after running like this about 15 days 1 gpu died on me i wonder if this is for shorting the pins of the 24 pin by paperclip or can the riser play a role of short out a gpu .The gpu might be a short circuit because when i insert the gpu on any system the system refuses to start at all. so what is the safest way to power the 2nd psu because we need atleast 2 psu s in a mining rig . should i use a tiny empty mobo just to power the psu or a 24 pin adapter, but i saw pictures people have burnt 24 pin adapters also. so as a veteran miner like you can you shade some light on this what is the probable cause and how can i prevent this form happening in the future this will be really helpful.

I'm doing the same.. 5x rx580s and an rx5500xt.. 30+MHS and 27mhs.. making over $16 per day.. and power use is very low due to my setup including solar.. maybe around $1 or less per day

Thanks for the video, saved the day! All I had to do was install the driver, which doubled my hashrate from 20 to 40. Then I applied the overclock settings and achieved the mentioned 48MH, great!

Me too! My PNY NVIDIA 3060 (with one of three monitors attached using an HDMI port) and the Developer's driver is hashing happily away at 48.68MH/s after only a bit of tweaking.

@@johnnypinkleton9410 Yes, I suppose they're one and the same. I got mine on Facebook Marketplace. It is in a legit PCIe16 slot and I'm using the developer 470.05 driver, which is a MUST to defeat the LHR and reach damn near 50MH/s if you have Samsung memory (you will). You will also need a load (HDMI) or dummy plug to fully defeat the LHR.

How do you change the BIOS to gen 3?

Thanks for the video, I’ve already got a 3060, so the bit where you go over recommended overclock settings was rather helpful, although I would like to point out that I’ve actually found that reducing the core clock reduces my hashrate a bit. Bumping up the power limit slightly and keeping the core clock at +/- 0 got better results for me by about 0.75 mh/s

​@@MiningChamber After some freeze scren or black screen I've found new values of stability (It's my only pc and I need to use while mining). I have 2 cards EVGA XC 3060 attached to 2PCI express 16 x8: Core clock 64, core clock -200, memory clock +1250 and the fan with a custom fan speed curve 0-100% set to 30°-60° (86-140F); or simply you can set to 90%. The gpu temps reach 54° (129°F) and 56° C (132°F) with the aditional help of 3 basic 8cm coolers. Regards!

Any idea what would be the impact on Power while running the graphic card with the Nerf checklist but no overclocks? And while buying a power supply should I keep that in consideration?

Does anyone know how to help, I have the drivers, x570 gigabyte gaming x mother board and still cant unrestrict my hash rate

would updating the drivers to the one mentioned reduce my in game fps as i play games and only do mining when the pc is idle

Just won a Shuffle today. Wanted a 3080 for my gaming rig, but FINALLY got picked for the Strix 3060. Better then the Vega 56 I've been gaming and mining on for years. Sold my Vega 3 weeks ago, so I guess I got lucky to get one so soon.

I found used 2070's before the great card depression of 2020. They get around 42h/s -200, +1000 TDP 64% just under 100w . 200$ each. Got super lucky.

I was getting around 25mh eventhough i have installed 470.05, then saw your video mentioned to change to Gen 3 for PEG1. I got 40+ mhs and then i fine tuned to get around 48.8mhs. Problem is when i connect the hdmi, display is blank then decided to Connect Displayport and got the 48+ mhs. Thank You!. When my rig restarted it was mining around 26mhs then when I switch on my monitor it pumps up to 48+mhs.

Hi and thank you for the informative video. Really helped me. Just a few questions though. 1. If my mining rig is running on Hiveos, can i do all the driver installations and clock setting for a 3060 on another PC with Windows OS. 2. If 1 can be done, do the same driver installations and settings carry over automatically to Hive OS once i place the 3060 into the HiveOS mining rig? Or will i need to do some additional settings on HiveOS? Thanks

serious question here! I did everhthing in this video but nothing works my monitor is 1080p thats the only difference do you think since is not 4k my card is not working 100%? im getting 24.14Mhs overclocked

You are a god, and just saved my ass. You answered all the questions I had one after another. I was so close to giving up after searching for why my rig wasn't getting a high enough hash rate. Turns out I really needed to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them with the 470.05 version.

bought 2 months ago this card for mining asus tuf 3060 12gb rev error code 43 setup settings for mining 24 hours optimal, no high temps yesterday my compurer was frozen, shutdown from psu my gpu and when windows started it was in 8 bits colors gpu is not recognized things i did 1. ddu, nothing 2. another motherboard, same 3. reinstall another windows version nothing i dont see any signal of physical damage, ir was mining with my 1060 my 1060 is safe in another computer, is 1 gpu per motherboard i dont know what else to do i bought the more expensive to be safe from this kind of things any suggestion? i have read today that there is a rev 2, mine, is rev 1

I know it's almost 1 year later but I just got this card from EVGA (nerfed). I'm using it in my main PC so it's directly on my motherboard and has display connected. I was using Trex for eth at first, was getting about 33 mh/s at 75 percent LHR, but kept crashing with your recommended OC settings. I just switched to lolminer 1.48 but the hashtate is unstable, it's constantly up and down. I also cannot install the 470.05 driver on my PC, kept saying not compatible with my version of windows (10 pro). I can't figure out how to get the max hashrate of 50.

Great video man, do you know if there's any drop of hashrate if i plug this RTX 3060 in the 16 pin PCIe connector and a RTX 2060 plus a GTX1660 super both in PCIe 3.0? with 2 risers?

Stock x has them for close to 850 before tax here in US. I was lucky enough to get mine from a prebuild and averaged paying about $600 for it

Great video once again bruv, I do own some 3060 and I am getting 48mhs at 105 to 106W power consumption, which in my humble opinion is better than 49 to 50 mhs at 130W. My settings are almost identical to yours but I do keep the power limit at 61 or 62. Furthermore, I made an observation that the core clock can help you so I don't keep it negative 200 to 300 it sits around plus 50 to 100mhz, memory is different for every card, I'd say keep increasing it until you see your hash rate is not improving. I do agree it's a bit more work to get these bad boys performing as they can, but once you do I believe this is a great card for the simple reason that it's not that power-hungry. What did you have in mind when you said that there might be further limitations on these cards, did you ment the existing ones or the ones that are coming later on? Thank you!

That is some great feedback thank you very much! So I didn't mean anything specific with it but it's more so you never know what nvidia will try to pull from their sleeves to further limit 3060s like they initially planned. But since the drivers that are unlocked can be found everywhere then it's highly unlikely they would do something, at least for currently existing GPUs. New ones that are being produced might have further restrictions

Downloading the driver it said it wouldnt work for this version of windows. I have windows 11. Is there a work around for this?

Will a pcie x16 (4.0) support the 3060 12gb mining with around 48mhs?

Just picked up two today for 800$ each and got them doing 49 Mhs on T-REX one at 110W and the other at 118W. So far gaming doesn’t seem to be an issue with the 470.05 Diver for me. Core 0+, Memory 1275+, TDP 65% & 70%, Fan speed 70% , Temps 50C & 52C

Hey MC. I just recently received my 3060 in an Alienware m15, and i wanted to ask about the 25MH rate some people with 3060s have. I havent needed to do anything to it to get it to mine at 40-42MH. also while mining my temps rise up to 65-75 C is this too high/dangerous to run my card at? any and all info would greatly be appreciated. Great video also, its been VERY informative for me, thank you.

That's good if it's getting that! Not sure how but as long as it works your fine. As for temperature make sure you apply the overclocks I mention in the video to help with the temperature

I've been trying to figure out the undervolting with throttlestop and overclocking with msi afterburn but I cant seem to figure it out and I dont wanna risk torching my card :( Edit: Would you possibly be able to answer some things that have been holding me up? In after burner set the core clock -300 and memory clock +1200, and power limit 62%. You will get 47-48 mhash and temperature around 57°C.

I thought about booting with HiveOS on a flash drive and using this config for my 3060, I bought mine yesterday and I'm studying how to use it to mine with HiveOS (13h) and use it to play on Windows as a form to win something and also not to miss having fun (it's my first card), do you think I'll get high rates like that with HiveOS? Another thing, thanks for the video, very well explanatory.

there are 2 versions of the 3060 , the old ones build before (estimated )june 2021 and the LHR 3060 build after june...if you have the old 3060 you need to do this... 1: the 3060 need to be connected to your monitor 2: install the patch it it wont work , you have the LHR 3060

I luckily got silicon lottery on an EVGA xc 3060 pulled power right down to 105 watts, -502 core, +1250 mem gets 49.14 MH/s other xc I could drop to 110 watts -300 core, +1300 for 49mh/s

Great video. Just had a question about the cpu controlling pci lanes. Usually the cpu controls the x16 slot and the chipset controls all the x1 slots and squashes them all together? Really hard to find that info.

That is actually news to me, I know that the motherboard plays a role into that too, in this scenario it's much more motherboard oriented than cpu.

@@MiningChamber yes that’s what I mean by chipset/mobo. Specs on the cpu are max 16x lanes. The mobo controls all the 1x slots. I think my z390p groups them into 24 lanes max. Again really hard to get details on how it all works and what the actual total potential lanes are for any give cpu/mobo combination. I saw a rig with 10 3060’s but it was a special server mobo with dual server CPU’s. Thanks again.

Check your motherboard bios for 4g decoding or mining mode and make sure it's on

if your using multiple 3060's in one motherboard, you can also just connect all of them even to same monitor, if you have the connectors free and they will mine on unlocked hashrate, my bro has 2 of them in one computer and i have one atm, with another showing up next week, matching 3060 TUF oc's. :P

Can you run this as a main card (PCI Express x16, 3.0) and the rest of the cards using risers and different models? (IE:3080s or 3070s). Wondering I got a hold of one of these and I want to create a mining rig to run with my other cards without worring about the limiter.

Anyone got the problem in Feb 22 that you cant download the 470 driver cause windows 10 is not compatible…?

It's a great way of using older machines with a single x16 slot, and a PSU strong enough to run the card, then run as many of them as you want. Set them up with HDMI plugs, and enable RDP so you can remotely login and manage them.
