RTOM Moongel Damper Pads Review

I bought these RTOM Moongel Damper Pads to reduce the ringing and overtone on my drums, and it was practically the best money that I have ever spent! I review the Moongel pads in this video, and even provide you with a demonstration of them improving the sound of my snare drum! The only thing that I forgot to mention in this video was the fact that these Moongel Damper Pads can be applied to any of your drums!

Why don't you just buy new heads and learn y to tune your drum. They aren't meant to tune just dampen.

I had bought a set of the gels, but only put 1 gel per drum. looks like I'll have to buy another pack!

esseJesse YT No you don’t have to buy another pack, just because he did doesn’t mean you have to. This guy for some reason believe or at least how it’s coming off that moon gel is to make your kit sound better and to get rid of over tones, he’s only correct about it removing over tones, his kit sounds horrible if you simply replace your old heads and learn how to tune decently you won’t need to place 2 moon gel strips on each head of your kit 👍

With 3 moongels on your snare you're ready to go into recording studio.

Drum actually sounds better and more musical without the gels. Gels are useful however in various situations. For material where there's room for the snare to breathe, why not give it a voice.

You could solve all the ringing and overtones with better heads and proper tuning. The reality is that you can only expect a drum head to be manageable for so long. Constant use and wear and tear eventually destroy the head. New heads top and bottom with correct tuning can make even mediocre drum shells sound like decent shells. It just takes investment and learning how to tune.

I'm planning on getting new heads for all of my toms and snare in the near future. I'm also planning on "fine tuning" my drum tuning skills lol! But I still find the moon gels to be really useful, even with fantastic tuning!

***** Notice, Jim, I said that you could get rid of the overtones not JUST with tuning, but also with new heads. If you stick a hazy 300 on the snare side and an Evans HD Dry on the batter, you'd have practically no ring whatsoever. I do agree that some snare shells create overtones but those overtones wouldn't exist without the presence of a drum head tuned to a certain tension. I firmly believe that great and precise tuning can solve most of the problems created by overtones and ringing. I hope you have a great day.
