RSG Rock Sliders! ANGLED vs FLAT - Toyota 4Runner and Tacoma TRD Pros...
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I show a side by side comparison of my two RSG rock sliders. I have the angled with kickout versions on the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and the flat with kickout on the 2021 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro.
Which set do you like better and why?
I personally think RSG makes a great product. Super easy to install and extremely durable. Both are DOM metal as opposed to HREW.
Thanks for watching!

I like the angled ones they look more clean looking to me
This was really helpful...a pair of these will be going on my new Tacoma! Thanks
@RSGMetalworks should pay you. Was debating between several sliders. The video demonstration of stepping in and out, in context with the surface area of the slider, removes doubt of whether this can serve as a step. Other sliders may be equally suitable. However no video evidence means no risk taking with the other sliders

@@UntamedMotors In your opinion do they work as a step? I have a short wife and a lift is coming on next week. So I definitely will need this.
My man untamed you need to get the door sill protectors in black to protect the paint when getting in and out. They're like $30 for all 4. Great video.

So how much do the flats vs the angled stick out from the door bases? Curious to know that compared to the standard n-fab or predator steps that seem to be ~5” in width from the base of the doors while open. Thanks.
Those are beautiful..to bad they don't make them for the tundra! Although I do like the go rhinos as well!
Just cancelled my order for Cali raised rock sliders and ordered a pair of RSG angled rock sliders for a 2022 Trd Off-Road that I'm waiting to be shipped to my hometown here in Honolulu Hi. $1544.00 including shipping. Yeah, we pay big time to get things here in the middle of the Pacific. Only issue I have; If I didn't buy it powdercoated, then the shipping time was 2-4 weeks. But, because it is powdercoated the shipping time is 6-8 weeks. Ridiculous, but I'm used to it by now!

I agree the angled look better. 👌🏻 makes it look a bit more purpose built. Both are much better than standard side step options out there though. =]
Just installed mine over the weekend - got the flat ones for my T4R. Agree it was def an easy install and only took a couple hours. Another benefit was that the steps are wider making it easer to reach the roof rack and protect the doors from dings. You know if any of the rattle can paints match the RSG powder coat (for touch up)?

Are you happy with them? I’m debating flat vs angled
I’d go flat if I were going with the sliders. Seems much more practical for the vast majority of us who don’t overland and rock crawl etc. Still, for my money it is the GoRhino RB20’s. Have those on my Tundra and they are worth every penny and the look is so clean.

That’s a good point to make... with the angled, we’re just one hang up away from locking yourself in your rig hah.
Probably gonna go greenlane for the aluminum sliders with kickout and flat. Don’t do crazy wheeling so don’t need the bog down from extra steel weight.
Living in Hawai’i and going to the beach the shark teeth may not feel good on bare feet. One suggestion for your daughter maybe put some skateboard grip tape on the kick out. So when it’s wet like it is 9/10 months of the year in Seattle she will have some stability.

I'm looking for flat ones like urs for my 13 4runner limited. But I'll never go crawling or mudding I just want the sharp look they have , also wanna get rid of the granny boards they come with.
Just came across your video. Can you order bare metal , and line -x them ? I think the line-x would give a little more traction then powder coating them. Anybody else line-x theirs?
Havoc HS2 reasonably priced rugged and step pads are user friendly ...........👍
Never use rhino linings…possible to keep clean and it stains with dirt.. Hardest to find is rock sliders for long beds.. I like the kick-outs !
I really liked this video. I had not seen RSG rock sliders before. Can you provide any more detail about the installation of the flat rock sliders? Info. like whether there is any drilling necessary or what is the most difficult part of the process would be helpful. Thanks -
@UntamedMotors

Thanks bud. Most difficult part is holding it up while you thread the first bolt. Otherwise, pretty simple tbh. Love RSG sliders. No drilling needed. =]

Just bought the same Taco and was looking for step functional crawlers. I think I really like the look of the angled better on the Tacoma. Are the angled still good for a step for you, wife and kiddos? Was thinking of maybe putting some grip tape on the plates.

Neither. They are both waaay overpriced. No way that rock sliders should cost upwards of a grand. I got mine from Body Armor for $695 and they are every bit as sturdy. Solid steel with kickout AND powdercoated. Aggravating that companies like this think they have a market cornered and charged outrageous prices for such a simple piece of equipment. CBI is the same way. There is really good gear out there if you just dig deep enough. These people are gouging. But, if you have that kind of money laying around and don't mind paying these prices, more power to you.

Just looked at body armor’s slider.. the design looks sus. A tiny surface area to transfer upward force from the slider into the frame. Small surface area means poor utility as a step $800 for it

@@Yoyomanmanholla To each their own. And yes, $200 - $300 is absolutely enough to get worked up about. And it wasn't $800 when I bought it, it was $695. Then again, I didn't buy the steps, I bought the actual slider. Steps are useless offroad and will actually damage your vehicle. The design isn't really any different to any other step out there, but like I said, to each their own. If you have that kind of money laying around, knock your socks off.
