    Sudeki has a special place in my heart, it was my first rpg and I loved the variety of enemies, the gore, special powers and characters, even though the ending feels a bit abrupt.

    The latter half of the game in general feels rather abrupt. There's a somewhat official animated cutscene to be found on YT after the defeat of the final boss, with the original VA's, which at this moment is the closest closure we can find. Definitely wouldn't mind a second chance for Sudeki, though I generally had a good time with it on my own playthrough.

    “Kotor 1-2”, “Jade Empire”, “Morrowind” and “Fable” alone should more than satisfy any fan of these genres. After the PS2 and the Game Cube, the last thing I bought was the Xbox. Their games library was next level in some places. A first class console and in my opinion the best generation of consoles.

    For that generation of consoles, the original Xbox had the RPG's I spent the most time in: Morrowind (which I still play frequently on my Series X), Kotor 1 and 2, Arx Fatalis, Fable, and Sudeki just being the ones that come to mind. What a classic console.

    Sudeki’s character designs also give off a nostalgic feeling to that era when Western media was taking more and more influence from anime. It came out when the original Teen Titans was still airing and just before other anime influenced stuff like Avatar and W.I.T.C.H. Takes me back to my high school days.

I was so desperate for new jrpgs that I ordered metal dungeon off eBay and tried my absolute hardest to enjoy it but I couldn’t. Alas, I still used my Xbox to play ps1 games on pcsxbox and Sudeki was very enjoyable imo so I made the most of it 😅

    I'd love to see a Jade Empire remake or reboot. That game had so much potential. It would be great if done from ground up on current gen hardware. Would be fantastic on Series X | S. It should get a full update though. Full voice acting, greatly enhanced visuals, vast vistas, more enemies, NPCs, improved modern combat system!.

    The OG Xbox is where I realized I loved RPGs. Fable, Morrowind, Jade Empire, KOTOR 1 & 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, LotR The Third Age. The distinction, I think, is made by the fact that Xbox is "RPG" whereas the Japanese Nintendo and Sony are more "JRPG". That's just my first thoughts at 1 minute into the video upon hearing you say that there weren't many RPGs on Xbox. Yet my 9yo self buying a newly launched Xbox was immersed by so many RPGs. Even though, yes, I mostly bought the Xbox to play Halo lol. Edit: So I only knew the first one in this video, KOTOR. I'd heard of Sudeki at the time, but being a kid with strict religious parents they never let me buy the game with the scantily clad, large breasted, woman on the cover on an M rated game lol. Arx Fatalis is only something that just appeared on my radar in the last few years, often as an option in Fanatical bundles, but I've never taken it. And then I'd never heard of the last two, though I was familiar with the D&D DA 1 & 2 games referenced in the D&D Heroes segment.

    As much as I love KOTOR 1, KOTOR 2 just has a significantly better story and characters. KOTOR 1 is classic Star Wars; a clear binary between light and dark with some fun locations and characters to boot. However, I just love the shades of grey KOTOR 2 has along with it's more complicated characters and the influence system, which made it a much more engaging game in my eyes. It was also interesting to hear about Metal Dungeon, a game I'd actually never heard of! Would love to see you cover Phantasy Star Online 2 and see if it's still worthwhile despite being offline. I'd also be interested in seeing Galleon some day, which I feel like is a forgotten gem of the original Xbox. It was far from perfect, but it had an impressive scale for an original Xbox game and had a lot of unique systems within it. Great video as always though!

    That thing about Metal Dungeon having you make your whole party isn't all that weird, that's how you use to do it. Games like Icewind Dale, Wizardry, and the Eye of the Beholder games had you make most of your party from scratch.

  • @campxbox

    @campxbox

    8 ай бұрын

    Yeah, you are right! Games like Icewind Dale had you build parties. Metal Dungeon goes for an old-school or computer RPG approach to party building. I suppose I was framing it in a console-oriented manner, as I feel that during the sixth generation, console RPGs leaned more towards predefined characters rather than customizable ones. Nevertheless, there are certainly exceptions to that trend.

    My second 3d gaming system was the Xbox, i will always have fond memories of playing Halo, Fable, Morrowind and many other great titles. My dad was a drug addict and broke into my room, stole my Xbox and over 40 games and probably sold them for drugs. I haven't bought a system since then, Instead I got into mobile gaming then built my own PC for AAA titles today. I was scarred for life.... I've never touched an xbox360,ps3 the last system I had was USED OLD PS2😅

    That sci-fi action rpg shown in the clip compilation in the beginning, where you have real-time combat and can rack up (insane) combos (iirc hundreds of enemies onscreen at times), what was it called? If I remember correctly, the first part only came out on xbox, while the second was only released on PS2.

    There was a game on the original xbox that was very similar to Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes. It was an rpg top-down hack n slash (more like cast and splash in the game in question) but I can't seem to remember what the name of it was. All i really remember is that there where different schools of magic, it was like a dungeon crawler, and you could unlock cheat codes to give you infinite mana and other stuff. For a little more detail on what I can remember, the different types of magic where represented by different colors that the player could toggle through using the black or white buttons on the xbox controller. If anyone could provide me some names to help me remember this game, that would be much appreciated as I played the game in question when I was a kid. And I played it a lot!

    "The GameCube and especially the PS2 boasted an impressive line of RPG titles" Well, the PS2 did for sure, but the GC's RPGs are nothing to write home about. I'm glad you featured Arx Fatalis, it's just a fantastic game. Of course, the PC version is better, and since Arkane released the game engine as open source, you can actually play it on a variety of platforms these days as Arx Libertatis. Same goes for Morrowind. The PC version is obviously vastly superior, and it too has an open source implementation today via OpenMW. I played the hell out of the Xbox version though, since this was during a time when my PC had become severely outdated.

    What it lacked in quantity, it made up for it in quality. Morrowind and KOTOR are better then the majority of RPGs on the PS2. D&D Heroes is also pretty solid.

Feels like an evolved better version of Arx Fatalis with simpler magic but more optons with combat! Highly recommend to any RPG lover, goes on sale for $5 often.
