Preach.... I second that! I like the other Fact Boi shows Simon does but this and the Casual Criminilist are my two favourite channels of Simon as well as being the top show I love to watch out of the many true crime channels. I don't know if its because I'm a 40y.o woman but I love how much Simon loves his kids, which is made evident by the stories he tells and how he lights up when talking about his family. Also being a 40y.o woman means I'm probably your target audience for such a product as from todays sponsor. I'm not sure how it's done but I'm guessing there are analytics that show who your audience is made up of. But I wouldn't have thought I'm alone in being a mature woman who enjoys your content. Sorry I've ended up going off on my own tangent there. I just wish Simon would trap more amazing writers in his basement with Callum and the others so extra CC and DTU content could be made.

The description of the "cave" reminds me of an oubliette. Walled off, bones inside, most likely the bones are the prisoner who was tossed in and "forgotten", food and water tossed down the hole to them for years. And the prisoner could of easily been the one to carve the sculptures into the walls to give him something to do.

Just saying a plumb line isn't for checking depth of wells it's for establishing a true vertical line or reference
@ArachnerdGC

It refers to both checking the depth of water (or holes) as well as checking for true vertical. The first sense is where the phrase "to plumb the depths" comes from.

It always amazes me when people freak out about how old they'll be in FOUR years. I recently turned 50 and had all kinds of people asking me how I felt about turning 50. They were disappointed when I told them that it literally feels the same. Though I did get to have a laugh when the gals at my physical therapist's office were talking about something and I corrected them, they looked at me weirdly so I reminded them that I was 50 and they both laughed saying they forgot because I look a lot younger. @24:12 "The King can do whatever he likes" Mel Brooks: "It's good to be the king" :P
The two knights on one horse became a symbol of the order and was present on the Templar Seal showing two knights (perhaps Hugues de Payens and Godfrey de Saint-Omer) on one horse. Contemporary legend held that the symbol represented the initial poverty of the order; that they could afford only a single horse for every two men, but this is (a) only a legend without any empirical evidence and (b) even if true was only the case right at the beginning. The knights did not own anything and upon admission to the order they swore to be obedient to the master of the order, to preserve their physical chastity, and live without personal property, so to say two knights on a horse was because the individual knights were too poor to have a horse each is actually wrong. Indeed many of the knights came from very wealthy noble families anyway.
I don't watch his videos for the information. I watch for Fact boy life rants. He has such an interesting life view. He is so funny.
As much as would like to say it was used by the Knights Templar to me it’s highly more likely to be a personal sanctuary for someone or some local monastery. If the cave was built on monastery land it could have been used by a monk for a place to work in peace and pray in silence which would explain the religious images found in the cave. Although I never heard of anchorites making caves to use but I feel like that’s the most likely explanation.
But Simon, you do have a huge impact on my life, and many others, I'm sure. Besides your family, of course! You bring a lot of joy to my life and I sincerely appreciate you and your teams hard work❤️🔥

Theres a book series called "Missing 411" that documents strange disappearances in forests across North America and heavily implies(without directly stating) that there is some mysterious thing making people go missing under strange circumstances. It would be interesting if you guys could do some sort of Epic Decode of the whole conspiracy thats built up around it. Have a writer pick a few of the weirder stories that are still open-ended and just toss them to Simon to shite all over with facts and logic. Its not really the type of tbing that can truly be "decoded" but is guaranteed to incite a multitude of tangents from Whistleboi and get all sorts of engagement in the comments from "True Believers", neighbors and relatives of people who "witnessed" some weird shit, and peoole angry at Simon for being rational and not buying into this crap.

No. It doesn't. It twists and lies to "create an air of mystery" and does nothing to teach you basics of EITHER search and rescue OR wilderness survival. The only thing that series does is try to turn real people into ghost stories. -- He's never honest. And there are few that are mysterious. Hell even one of them was found: landslide. Dudes take "the dogs lost the trail" - and he also refuses to mention that in over half of all search dogs lose the trial. Including due to landslide. -- He's a cop, who like all cops: have morals for hire and his take on "right and wrong" changes as quickly as the law and where there's money to be made. He's a bad man. And he doesn't do favors to those who have been, and those who will be lost in the wilderness in the future.

Last few episodes the light to the side of Simon's head tends to look like a flower 🌺 What does a flower in your hair mean? If you're going to a Hawaiian themed event like a luau or house party, one way to declare your relationship status is by wearing a flower in your hair. If you wear the flower behind your right ear, that means you are single. If you wear the flower behind your left ear, that means you are in a relationship.
Submariner here.... that's right. Implosion is the quickest (therefore) best way to die on a Submarine. You're crushed to death before your brain has time to even process a pain signal.
First tangent not even 8 minutes in 🤣
…..”and here we go”😂😂😂 Top notch job to the editor.
19:24 Plays an Uncle Roger (Nigel Ng) meme 19:31 "Apparently no one's called Nigel anymore" tangent 🤣
@RichardWatt
11 ай бұрын
I had to Google Nigel Ng as I was thinking of Nat Gertler, the comic book writer who went by that pen name for a while.
Might have been me that commented about the signal delay to the brain vs the implosion timeframe. I have some credentials to help back up my assertion. One, I'm a retired USAF metrologist who worked in pressure calibrations and measurements. Two, there is a study done on the ARA San Juan S-42, an Argentinian naval submarine that imploded in 2017 and determined that the entire event would have been over within 20ms but that was not even a km of depth and was a full size naval sub with 44 souls onboard so it was a lot larger volume that needed to compress. The Titan sub however was at 3500ish meters and a fraction of the displacement volume so it probably was done within 10 and most likely even 5ms of time which is not enough time for your brain to process the images from your eyeballs let alone feel pain etc.
I love quotes that without context are just perplexing. "Did I miss out on a dictator called Nigel?" is a good one.
I hope that finally today the ghost will be actually real.

I used to live in Royston, very near the cave. I never managed to visit it as it always seemed to be shut on times it should have been open.. But, as far as I'm aware, the origins of the town's name came from the presentation by a King William of a large stone, hence ROYal STONe.. But, I claim no source for this, although there was a large stone just over the road from the cave.
