you can use this for free for, inter alia, private and educational purposes, just saying guys these are general copyright exceptions. I'm making a podcast for uni which means I can just use it as long as I refer to the owner. This is the fair use doctrine applicable in the US. In the EU, its even easier.

Thank you for your interest. Please note that we are a commercial service and generally using our music requires proper license. Fair use is always case by case and does not apply universally. For example, if you're making a podcast about how to make music intros and want to use some of our sounds as examples, that may qualify as fair use. But if you simply make a podcast for a university and use our music as intro (that adds value to your podcast) that is hardly fair use and requires the license. Simply using copyrighted content for non-profit or educational purposes does not automatically make it fair use. To be safe and not to make your university liable for the infringement, our suggestion is to use creative commons music instead (just google creative commons, there will be plenty of sources). While fair use can only be definitively decided by the court, creative commons license instantly gives you the right to use copyrighted content with attribution. Hope this helps!

Royalty free does not generally mean "free", it only means that you won't have to pay royalties for repeated use (or per view / broadcast, which would be common with sync licensing for tv). We generally advise against using any music without proper license, unless you speak with qualified copyright attorney. While fair use may work cover unlicensed use in some cases (like news or critique), it does not automatically remove copyright protection from music. The copyright owners still can go after you for infringement and it will be your responsibility to prove in court that your specific case qualifies as fair use.

We are a commercial music library and you must be a member to download and use our music. Assuming you're referring to "royalty free", please keep in mind that strictly speaking "royalty free" means that you don't have to pay royalties for recurring use, as opposed to the "needle drop" licensing model common in TV and broadcast. White royalty free music can be also free, "royalty free" does not automatically mean no cost, free license, or public domain. Hope this helps!

@@TunePocket Sure it helps! Next time I'll keep that in mind. However please keep in mind that the title can be misleading for most people who are not familiar with techincal therms. Hence expectations are made. I don't like to teach anything to anybody but I was very happy to have found some decent tracks and knowing that actually they were not free was very annoying. Maybe... Low cost music would have been more suitable to my taste (?). Anyway this is just my personal feedback, just take it or leave it.
