🏍 Royal Enfield Interceptor vs 🏍 Triumph Street Twin | Is The Twin Thrice The Bike? | ZigWheels.com

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

🏍 Triumph Street Twin price in India is Rs 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Royal Enfield Interceptor at 2.51 lakh.
🏍 Royal Enfield Interceptor vs Triumph Street Twin which one better? Let Us Know Comments Section!
Triumph’s Street Twin has been one of their highest selling models in recent times. For 2019, the Brits have made it cooler and surprisingly, it is more affordable for India. Hence, it is the most affordable British twin available in India. Or is it? Because Royal Enfield went big with the Interceptor 650. It is already selling like hot cakes. Why shouldn’t it? We have longed for a big Enfield for decades and our wishes came true.
Royal Enfield made every single bikemaker sit up and take notice as it managed to price the Interceptor at a super accessible Rs 2.5 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. And even though the Street Twin is more affordable (by Rs 25,000 at Rs 7.45 lakh, ex-showroom India), it is still three times the amount of the Interceptor.
Both bikes come with a parallel-twin motor with a 270-degree crank. While the Enfield just has 648cc to play with, the Triumph offers 250 cee cees more. This obviously gives the Street Twin an advantage in the performance numbers, 65PS vs 47PS and more importantly, 80Nm vs 52Nm.

MSRP of the new Street Twin in Canada is $10,600. My local RE dealer is advertising an Interceptor at $7,975. While there is clearly a price difference it isn't the 3x suggested in the video. I think there is a big up charge in Canada for the RE.

Interesting! 2 years after this review I find myself with this same choice but the price difference has narrowed considerably. In the UK a new RE Interceptor costs about £6,000 and a new, unused 2020 Street Twin can be found for £7,600. For sure the Street Twin is the better bike by any reasonable measurement but I find myself leaning towards the Interceptor. I recently sold my much loved Himalayan when forced to return home from the Middle East and I miss identifying with the Royal Enfield brand and riding with other Royal Enfield riders. Buying a bike is not always reasonable so having got this far writing this, I have made a decision. It's the Interceptor for me and I will spend the £1,600 saved riding around the country I left 23 years ago on a great Indian motorcycle.

One advice to RE (if they are reading the comments here), they should immediately modify their twin silencers in both 650 twins and make them look like like those on Triumph’s Street Twin. And, if you don't plan to take your bike to office or shopping, and you need the true motorcycling experience, go for the Triumph.

The style is the draw. A conversation anywhere you go. All in all I favor fuel injection and prefer the lower pipes of the Bonneville.

This video also makes me miss India, and particularly riding in India sooo much. I have great memories of riding a 50 year old Royal Enfield with the original iron cylinder 10 years ago around Rajasthan and also all the way down to Cochin! Although we put the bike on the train from Mumbai to Goa. Some very challenging times, but also good memories! I love the mechanical simplicity, classic looks, and democratic price point of the RE, although being on the shorter side, if I had the money, the compact size and also beefy modern re-imagining of British classic would probably pip the post for me. As somebody who has both the bikes at my disposal I would definitely go for the interceptor. The main deciding factor which this comparison skipped is the handling which the interceptor has an edge over the twin. The smaller rear tyre and a wider handlebar give you a very flickable machine although losing out on some stability at extremely high speeds ( 140+ ) which you shouldn't be doing anyway. The twin also faces very high wind blast due to its low seating position and it becomes very difficult to ride at highway speeds consistently. One weird gripe as a person with a height of 5'10" I have of the twin is that my knee often is touching distance from the cylinder heads and hence I find a difficult time finding the right posture despite the fantastic seat. The interceptor also has this issue but the provided brackets on the cylinders and a taller riding posture do help out to an extent that it becomes trivial at best. All things considered even if you have the money for the twin you should definitely go test ride one to check wether it suits you or not. Some like the low slung stance and the slightly better stability in the bike while others prefer a taller flickable machine so its best you try out both if not decided. The build quality is definitely what you pay for the triumph and having done 50k kms on my father's twin it still manages to look newer than my interceptor which at present sits at a measly 3k. Be it the electrical connectors or the cable ties or the neat layout of the wiring and the ease to add on accessories, the twin is leaps and bounds ahead of the interceptor in those regards but not many of us care for such details and in the end it is the details that you end up paying for. If form trumps function for you get the twin else the interceptor will do you just as good if not better.

In fact the only maintenance i need to do is a oil change on the ST every 16,000 km. The ST is a hassle free bike and there is lot that has not been mentioned in this vid. Traction control , ABS ride by wire etc. All this makes the ST a dream. The bike is extremely nimble and its a breeze to ride in the city. On the highways: I touched 180 with easy on the way to Gujarat and i still felt there was a little more to offer. My opinion would be to invest more in your safety and go in for a ST. The build quality is amazing. Well that my thoughts on it. Safe riding to all.

I have been riding the Street Twin for a while now (turns 3 years old in Sep) and I have had a chance to ride the Interceptor last month. I think you get what you paid for with both. In the Triumph - the quality of materials (not a single rusty piece on my Street Twin after 3 years hard riding in coastal Kerala), the workmanship, the little details add to the feeling that you do have something special. It's also a breeze to ride in the city as well as the highways. Now coming to the RE, it's a fun bike no doubt. Pulls cleanly, looks awesome and rides like a charm (zero vibes/ great torque). However, there are jarring notes in the package. The ergonomics are flawed (Search the various forums around), it is unnecessarily heavy for a 650 and the quality of parts and workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. For example, the Interceptor I rode had visible rusting all over in what was essentially a 6-month-old bike. This does not detract from the riding experience for sure but for me, it does not feel special enough to buy. I am sure it will sell in great numbers in India and elsewhere but it does not tug at my heart as the triumph does. Just saying.

The chrome plating was flaking to the rocker cover and the mudgaurd support bracket located between the front forks was red with rust. I cleaned and dried my bike meticulously and stored it in a dry garage. I have been out of motorcycling for a few years and the Royal Enfield Interceptor sounds a very inviting prospect to me.

Even if I had the money, I would still go for the RE, as it has the right package for the Indian roads. A powerful bike with no place to exploit its potential is a waste. Secondly, because of its true classic nature, it will stay timeless. Even after a decade it will stay in style. I'm not sure if the Bonne is making that kind of a statement. The Interceptor seems like a promising machine from Royal Enfield. If they could just make it a little more compact, there wont be anything to complain at all.

I rode a friend's Enfield Interceptor the other day, and honestly -- it was as smooth, seemed just as quick or damned close, and it handled marvelously on a windy mountain road. Good to see PD. Super nice guy, I rode with him during the Himalayan Odyssey in 2012. A great rider and very helpful (he helped me get up when I crashed on the More Plains).

If Interceptor had Ride by wire Traction Control All Led setup Tubeless tires BS6 Alloy wheels.... It would be more value for money even if they increase price to about 50k😍😍😍

All these were avoided to keep it as an affordable upgrade for current and potential RE owners... May be that's why it has such a stunning price...

Who needs tc, ride by wire and all those crapy gimics. A rider will enjoy raw simple mechanics always. No offence mate. Take a scrambler and give it a bit off raod with tc off.

and what do we need all this for what? the simpler the more reliable. It was precisely because I didn't have these useless extras that I bought RE. Here in Portugal the price difference between RE interceptor and Triumph streer twim is 3500 euros. And the street twin there is not central stand.

Triumph has six-world class factories around the world. Two of these factories are based in Hinckley in the UK, just a stone's throw from the Mallory Park race track. There are also three factories in Chonburi, Thailand, and one in Manaus, Brazil. Triumph is British, and at least some are made and assembled in the UK.
