Thank you! Happy to share my experience and will be glad if it is useful. My 3d printed cover is functional, but it isn't finished. It is just plastic with no paint on it. I am going to try a new trick on the front of the bike, but if that won't work I will come back and finish the harness and polish and paint the cover.

Hello Max ,i think the problem with the upgrades is that people are always trying to turn the interceptor into a triumph Bonneville ,when in fairness the inter is bang on the money for the early 60 s 650 Triumphs ,if its working why fix it .Anyway thanks as usual for giving us a balanced viewpoint .all the best Chris

Hi Chris! Thanks for your comment! I know, I agree, it’s all about getting those false expectations from ads and reviews and then getting upset with the fact something didn’t meet them! On another hand, I was thinking another day and you kind of read my mind: it is not about making interceptor into something that it is not, it is about making the most out of what it already is. And for me - it is just a nice hobby and a fun way of spending time. So expect more upgrades and some of them will inevitably fail!

Better brake pads , top quality tires , quality relays and more functional mirrors are the priority mods - the rest are optional. Thanks for the heads up especially the power commander which was supposed to increase power but reduces it.

Thanks! I am using Fuel X, not the power commander. I personally can't say what has changed, but my friends say they feel the difference. Bike has more stable rpm in low range. OK. My the bike has changed again since this video - I added top-quality tires and smaller wheels, relays didn't give me any problem, and the mirror give me a great visibility, but I don't like looking down at it, so may replace for something else. will get decent bar end mirrors

I totally get what you're saying about the suspension. Every time I come across "new shock" making my interceptor feel like a whole new bike, I can't help but roll my eyes. I put Hagons on there just for the looks, and honestly, there's not a big change. When you're riding a 47hp motorcycle on the road, the gap won't be that noticeable.

I have a Fuelx lite, DNA Filter and Powerage silencers. It did appear to run slightly better, more responsive with pipes and filter ...and sounded much better (to me anyway), although not much difference performance-wise. I did notice a difference when I fitted the Fuelx, admittedly quite subtle; the bike was flexible and not snatchy beforehand but it felt better still after fitting the Fuelx and pulled more smoothly at lower revs. For the rest of the rev range it felt like I was running the engine on a cool damp day, even when it wasn't cool or damp ... conditions where internal combustion engines always run better. As you mention the bike runs cooler too. None of the changes make a huge difference and the Fuelx in particular was expensive but overall I'm happy with how it turned out.

  • @thesundayrides

    @thesundayrides

Hey Leigh! Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience. It is interesting to see that we witnessed more or less the same outcome. If I had known this from my personal experience with another bike, I would not have done fuel x, filter, and pipes. I would have stopped after swapping the silencers. The most positive outcome for me from all of this is that the weight of the bike was reduced dramatically - which in turn maked a huge difference to the bike's dynamics! And the money not spent on fuel, filter, and pipes, I would spend on a 17-inch rear wheel and a wider tire. I am really excited about this upgrade. But it is so expensive, so still struggling to 'sign it off'!

Great video and honest review! I own a 2021 Conti GT "Ice Queen" and have done some of the same mods as you - the TEC big bore pipes/cans, DNA filter, air injection delete, front and rear shocks changed out, as well as blacked out the engine covers. I will say that my suspension in both the front and rear are noticeably improved - I went with the YSS front fork suspension, and the Shock Factory shocks for the rear. What I liked about Shock Factory is that they asked questions pertaining to what kind of riding you intend to do, weight (solo/w passenger), and they preset the dampening. Personally, I recommend these products as the handling is like a gem now. Looking forward to more of your content - cheers!

Exhaust & air filter upgrades make the bike run leaner and hotter you need to change the mapping so the bike can run richer and cooler. fuel x Pro with 10 mapping settings can change the mixture. As for the suspension best change the front forks with YSS performance kit and thicker oil and progress springs much better handling. Then changing the rear shocks. I think you are not feeling the benefits because of your lack of riding experience as it's your first bike.

Personally with suspension i had yss front and rear shocks fitted rear with piggy backs, i had them fitted and tuned by a professional shop who only deals in motorbike suspension, i honestly notice the difference right away, the tip in was quicker it was snappier and it held its lean angle very well, so much so with stock suspension I never scraped the pegs now it scraps the pegs and my tec 2 into 1 header which is another problem. I think with suspension my thoughts are if you put better ones on the rear, it over exaggerates the front and you also get what you pay for hands down best thing i have done everyone has there own expereinces

Hi, i own a interceptor and especially for brakes, in rear you can swap the rotor and caliper brackets with meteor 350 and its plug and play and i did it. And try to find a double piston caliper(available in many re bikes and even front caliper might be direct fit) for rear to like max out the brakes, On front, there are many levels of upgrades like 4 piston caliper>parallel mount>abs tec upgrades>dual rotor system like in thruxton, which might be a over kill but looks cool...

And for performance, instead of piggyback, do a proper ecu performance tuning and set air filter.., in big budget, go for 883 bore kit..... for suspension, in front try using a preload adjusters which is cheap in india (4krs) and swap the oil with high grade oil. I almost feel kinda sad for you having spent so much money on such costly parts; shows just how easily the internet can dupe unsuspecting people! To be honest, the "performance" upgrades people feel after changing the parts you've bought and installed are mostly placebo effects (and notice how nobody actually provides hard numbers on the improvements they "experienced") 😁 I've got 2 Enfields (a 2005 350cc model and a 2013 EFI 500cc model) and regularly ride and service many of these modern Enfields. In my experience, unless you're riding these bikes on the edge (consistently above half open throttle), the stock air filter, stock brakes and stock suspension can handle everything perfectly. In fact on the Interceptor: - Raising the preload on the stock suspension makes the bike more stable at high speeds and while cornering above 40Kmph (25mph+) - Removing the top cap on the stock air filter cover helps the filter breathe better (and you hear a slight bit more induction noise) - Swapping the front brake master cylinder for a Brembo RCS 19 will make a world of difference to the stopping power, allowing you to test the actual limits of the stock engine power. All other performance upgrades (bolt-ons) are surface level, only capable of making a tangible difference once some form of engine work is carried out (big bore kit, bigger throttle bodies) Hope this helps you Max, and anyone reading this comment! Cheers, Stan.

Straight pipes is your problem actually. Because they do not generate needed amount of back pressure. That's why your bike is weak at low and mid RPMs. Fuel management and filter didn't make your bike worse. Straight pipes needed for top-end race track power only. Stock ECU just cannot give you as much fuel as your bike needs with those pipes. So, keep your DNA kit, keep your Fuel X, and throw those straights out. Then you'll see.

Hi Dmytro! Thanks! Interesting suggestion! I bet I will not feel anything again because small power increases will be compensated with weight increase. I swapped air filter and added fuel x a few month before I swapped the pipes. The speed test was also done with the old pipes. Anyway, I love experimenting and learning new stuff. That has not been successful for you, the best thing I did for my Himalayan was to fit EBC HH pads in both front and rear and they have made a big difference especially to the front as I felt for road riding the supplied pads lacked any feel. It might be worth having a chat with Hagon regarding rear shocks as I understand they can tune them to your weight, they certainly said that to me when I enquired about replacing the monoshock on the Himmy. The bates style headlamp is really just about the look and never really performs well enough. I think the later Interceptors have an LED unit replacing the halogen setup. You could always refit the old headlight and upgrade the standard halogen lamp to a brighter lamp. Halfords offer 150% or 200%brighter lamps that fit straight in . I don't know if there is an ECU remapping service for the Intercepter as this would take advantage of the free flow DNA air filter and the exhaust system.

Hello Dave! Thanks for the feedback! Concerning the pads, it is plausible that the previous owner might have made a switch. The Brembo pads they had on were just as effective as my new EBC pads, I must say. With regard to the headlight, I tend to avoid riding during nighttime, except for those early morning weekend journeys, so it doesn't really pose a major issue for me. I actually replaced the stock light with a Bates light purely for aesthetic reasons. However, I do have intentions to replace it with a new and contemporary headlight in one of the upcoming episodes. In terms of the ECU, there is actually a garage that provides this service. You can send them your ECU, and they will reprogram it and return it to you. I need to conduct further research on this, but I intend to wait until closer to the start of the new season since winter is approaching and it isn't an urgent matter. Once again, I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to watch my latest episode!

When you are working on your own bike, car, push bike, or whatever, you are free to choose another compatible part that would bring additional performance. parts that I changed are not random, but I didn't do enough to actually see the performance upgrade. we have no idea what efi parts you changed because you didn't tell us!! Regarding the brakes, sintered (powered metal) pads will provide extra stopping power after you get them hot! Stock pads, (I could not see them!) assuming they are organic, can be improved if you properly bed them into the disk, with several hard stops. Google. Rear suspension can be tuned to suit your riding style and preference . . but first identify some aspect that you would like to change. An example would be rebound damping, which on the stock shocks isn't adjustable, and might be inadequate when the bike is ridden hard. But do you ride it hard enough to notice?? Because as you noticed, increasing damping makes the suspension stiffer! Cheers.

Hi Richard! Thank you for your comments and questions! Yes, I didn't mention the brands in this video because it is a negative one, and I didn't want to create any negative publicity for these brands. There is nothing wrong with the products; they just didn't work for me. However, I am ready to provide more details and answer questions in the comments. I used a DNA Air filter and the Fuel X fuel-injection optimizer. The stock pads were Brembo, but I'm not sure which type. I bedded the new pads with a couple of hard stops; maybe it wasn't hard enough. I will wait for dry weather, follow your advice, and do it again. The suspension isn't stock. There are rear shocks from Tec. It is set up according to my weight, and the rebound is 3 clicks from the softest settings. I just think there was nothing wrong with the stock suspension; it's perfectly adequate for most riding. If you need something special (and you know exactly what), then you need to get a higher spec unit than the Tec gas shock. I'm not sure what you mean by "riding it hard enough" - breaking the speed limits and riding recklessly on public roads? Then maybe not. My point was that if you aren't riding like a race track rider, the stock rear shocks are fine. The front suspension is another story, though. It makes a clanking noise when going over a bumpy road. That could use some improvement. I can't wait to get it fixed with the YSS upgrade kit. Anyway, thanks for watching the video and taking the time to write a comment and share your experience! Much appreciated!

It seems like you were disappointed by there not being a dramatic difference after each of your mods. If youd done the mods with a conservative or more informed state of mind, youd know that plonking on a staright pipe + end can+ air filter you need a full blowm tune to go with as well. The fuel x is only a fuel optimiser that enriches the fueling minimaly over 7 progressive stages. With regards to the suspension, its onvious youve not set it up for your weight ,if youd correctly set up the suspension for comfort you wont feel its hard (duh) Ive run my interceptor with almost similar mods as you , (no free flow headers*) Yss fromt and back, set up for my weight and agrressive riding style especially for the mountains. Results i noticed no more scary weaving and bobbing in coners or hitting a flat patch whem going down hill on a poorly designed roads (very common India) thr stock front suspension would bottom out and almost feels like im going into a stoppee(exaggerated for explaining context). With the yss it would not bottom out in these situations and would damoen the effect without unsettling my bike. Its not a set amd ride everywhere thing. Needs adjustment depending on surfaces. Thr fuelx and airfilter + exhaust mod has made the bike run cooler for me. I have a temp guage from jmp so i know in real terms whem the bike runs hot . I run the 8th map with my exhaust+filter mods. Most improvement i felt after the above three were whem cornering at lower speeds on slow corners. The bike pulls smoothly without jerks from almost below 2k rpms
