Very nice video Dickie. I agree with what you say about changing sprocket sizes on the Himalayan but in the same breath it's something I have never done, your bound to lose the fantastic flexibility of that second gear. I am very much looking forward to the release of the new Himalayan 450, would I buy one? If money was no object I think I would in a heart beat but I have to say I love my old Chug (LS410) very much still, we have had some wonderful times together and I reckon the engine is not even 25% through it's effective lifespan after 4 years and 17K miles...

Because of serious leg injuries in 2020 ( not bike related) I had to trade my Himalayan 411 in to a Bike Dealer a few months ago. Age (79) and loss of leg strength finally won, but having owned bikes since 1962 I agree with everything you say about it, a brilliant value for money bike. I've got a Honda step through maxi scooter now...and what a revelation that is..👍😄

I so nearly bought the 411 last year. My nearest dealer is 40 miles away and a visit there almost had me buying one (I actually bought a RE tshirt, leather key fob, 2 badges and a mug!). I watched every youtube video on the Himalayan, but there was always a nagging doubt as to it's cruising ability, lack of speed. In the end, in April this year I bought a BMW G310GS from a local dealer. Great little bike. It will cruise comfortably at 60-70 mph and I get 83mpg. Superb handling. However, I am looking forward to the Himalayan 450. It has 40bhp, compared to the BMW's 33bhp, and the 411's 25bhp. I may be tempted next year! RIDE SAFE, MATE! Good video and commentary.

Had you not been turning in the first place, that would of taken you out..! had not seen you until the last minute. I too had to go change.. .. A main road, but given a turn on a bend, I find it generally out in the lanes.. normally those large SUV's which think they own the whole road. Another great presentation lad and spot on with comments, I'm happy with mine in stock form, not going to change, like the looks of what the new Himalaya offers, did is the specs and its a short/over square motor 86/81..? Likely sell those who what to upgrade and have latest model out, yet you've said current bike hit all the ever increasing. decreasing speed limits comfortably. As the prices are already dropping across the models, silly money/offers new on the E5's what worth our E4's, time only will tell, can't see real money out the gate on PX against new Himalaya, likely lot of old stock Himalaya sat round anyway.. Rant over, stay safe. Cheers Davey

I've owned a Himalayan for about 2 and a half years as a daily ride to work bike. For the first couple of thousand miles I hated it.. but I have to say this bike is now probably in my top 5 bikes I've owned (59 since 1980.) Its cheap as chips to run ,easy to service, and handles bumpy back roads with ease, finish is as good as anything out there. On the down side, standard battery was not very long lived, rear rack is feeble. And rear brake master cylinder seizing at 10k miles, this happened because off ingress of road salt. Only mods I've done are fitted 2 teeth less on rear sprocket so 70mph is cruising easy. Would l buy another one, yes definitely, this bike will never set your pulse racing like a full on sports bike but it will probably plod on for years. 👍

You got it right Dickie and well done. As is true for many of us, there are choices in my garage and my favorite continues to be the Himmi. Ordered sight unseen back in 01/2018, it was the first white one in our State of Minnesota. Almost 30k miles, it would have many more if it weren't sharing duties with the others.

The 450 looks great and time will tell how it performs and what issues come to the surface. Interesting point on 411 prices going through the floor after its release. I've yet to see a Scram on the road, I don't know if they took off as well as the original Himalayan did. I think the Him is already a future classic. I owned a 2021 model and put about 3000 miles on it. I had to work around the relatively tall stance being a short arse, and it was that and a lack of power persuaded me to drop it for a lower bike with more oomph, but I loved every mile I rode it nonetheless. Great video and can't wait to hear the mysterious stories 🙂

Hi Oscar.. It’s normally safe practice to buy a brand new model a year or so after it’s release.. The original BS3 had a fair few issues apparently but was only released to the Indian market to endure.. By the time the rest of the world got the BS4 it was sorted..Hopefully they’ve developed the 450 properly and it’ll be problem free.. Your right.. I can’t recall seeing a scram either..ATB 👍

I took mine out for the first time today for some time because I've had a bit of a dalliance with a Yamaha Diversion for the past month. I bought it because I fancied a bit more poke but didn't like the riding position and the way it reacted to white lines and tarmac banding scared the you know what out of me despite having wider, road specific tyres compared to the Himi. Made hardly any difference and fuel consumption went up during the winter ( booster plug)So I took it all off again apart from the end can..Had a Cam sat in the draw for a while now.. So I’ll probably fit that and then start messing around with stuff again..I really think for what you pay out for such little gains it’s probably not worth it.. The Cam may change that though 🙂👍

When that bloody scream came, I nearly dropped my tablet because i was wearing my ear buds, I gripped my invisible brake and pushed my foot onto the foot brake. I was mentally riding that bike.

You get used to it.. 35-40 bhp would be nice on the 411 though..The Americans are still getting the KLR 650 jammy buggers 😄
