I also was a member of the RAF fire Service and thanks to the Regiment we got Offiers to represent us real protective gear and great fire tenders.I was seconded in 1959 had to get the flashes sewn on at RAF Northolt. Good old Catters had some great times there. Did 22 years , god bless all the fire fighters anf the Regiment Squadrons wher ever they are.

It is an interesting but little known fact that A E “George” Sims composed a march called “Per Ardua” as the regimental quick march (now completely forgotten), however the officers of the Regiment preferred “Holyrood” by Kenneth J Alford as his title referred to the first location that the RAF Regiment ever mounted guard.

i started in raf fire service in 1959 which was absorbed into the regiment the same year, although we wore the shoulder flashes we did not train or work with the regiment but dropped down from trade group nine to group 22.which meant that we could remuster if we wished but as far as i know noboddy did but a lot of the men left the service outright.

A beautiful march which, in my opinion, is far superior to the bland official march of the RAF. This should be the march of the RAF. A second good option would be "The Dambusters March"

Davie Coats 100% agree. We did a conversion of the RAF Regt to CVR(T), only to be told they could take on Soviet MBTs. As a MBT crewman I wouldn't want to take on enemy forces on an airfield. The RAF Regt have a horrible job, to protect their airfields against ground forces. As much as I extract the urine (take the piss) of any service, all of them have earned the right to be respected.
