Roy WA *Muck Creek *Pioneer Rodeo

Roy WA is a small town with lots of history and some interesting things to see. We'll visit the city park and learn about an important salmon habitat. Join me on a trip around town and I'll share with you what I saw.

PNW Granny, Thanks for taking us along. I think I’d fit better in a small town than a city. Looks like a nice place to live. I wonder if from the Roy Rodeo they come North to the Calgary Stampede? Have a nice day. Your in my prayers daily.

I don't know very much about the rodeo circuit, but I do know that this one has some of the most important participants in the rodeo world and has been going on for 58 years. I will be doing another update about the latest news on my health soon. Right now I'm taking it easy while I heal after my surgery and wait for the next step. Thanks for watching, Harm.

@Roy-ng1xn I had an uncle who lived in Missippi with his family for many years he often told me how much he loved it there. I visited your state many years ago when I was a teenager. I hope you can see Washington someday and will love it as I do. Thank you for your comment. It's been a long time since I've made any new videos. My physical health limits what I can do these days, and I've lost my beautiful husband, who was such an inspiration to me. Be well

This takes me back to when the nisqually had chum salmon in it. Even muck Creek had a real good run. The salmon festival in Roy was always fun. Salmon came right through the park at the creek.

The reader board in the park had that information and it was fascinating to me. Wish I'd grown up here like my husband did. He gives me a lot of the ideas for videos. Sorry to say he is suffering with ill health now and our travels have been curtailed for a while. Hopefully I'll be getting back on the road some day.

Thank you, I'm doing my best. Roy is close to where we live and we like going there and the Muck Creek information was very interesting to me and I thought I would share it.

We enjoy the park too. It was a surprise to me how much history was associated with it. We stop there occasionally to eat our lunch on road trips it must be a fun place to live. My husband lived there many years ago when he was a young person.

I have lots of childhood memories in this area, however most of it was in Yelm and McKenna, my great uncle and aunt on my moms side lived in Roy in it's early days, however I've never been to the Rodeo in Roy, ive only been to Ellensburg's rodeo when i was 4 however i think my family might get me to see Roy's pioneer rodeo eventually.

My husband lived in Roy for a short time in his youth and he's been to the rodeo. He says it's a professional event and quite good. I think you would enjoy it. Thanks for watching.

Are all those businesses in operation or are they a sort of museum? Looks like my kind of town in which to settle down.

Not all of them are in business. Roy is isolated from the bigger city of Tacoma by the JBLM military base property. I love the place because of the history attached to it. Muck Creek was at one time a much larger creek utilized by both the native and settler population and like many small towns in Washington the railroad played an important role. There are other communities further along the tracks that have similar history and looks to them. www.cityofroywa.us/history.html
