I was lucky enough to to hear Roy with my wife while she was pregnant. Every time he started to play the baby would kick. My daughter is a Pianist a violinist and vocalist. Also majoring in physics
Let's just take a minute to appreciate Peter Martin's incredible comping.

I'm coming back daily after I discovered this piece earlier this year lol
I consider myself one lucky bastard because I was there! Those were some brilliant nights, ending up at the embassy bar of the Bel Air Hotel till broad daylight...
Damn I love Johnny Griffin so much
Was fortunate to see grif and roy in the early 90's. Still cant believe their gone. Roy passed too young, one of the greats as is grif.
Ron blake has got that sound mannnn!!!
I love all these guys on record but watching them doing it on stage, digging each other, that's such a joy to watch - hats off to the camera men or women who shot this
This performance gets better appreciation from me with the passing years. Swinging Groovy music as its best. Thanks Rafael Avakov for the posting
This is easily my favorite jazz video on KZread. Try listening to it with a good pair of headphones or speakers. It's mind-blowing.
Wow, Peter Martin your solo was beyond killing.
It's New Year's Day 2019 and I'm just discovering Roy Hargrove. Wish I had known about him in the 90's, but I was listening to more Blues in that time period. RIP Roy-you still give joy to others thru your music!!

One of the greatest songs I have ever heard
Peter Martin. ....Stunning
Roy at 24/25-years has done his thing; has now sung into the celestial sunset of our memory. Roy,49:RIP Johnny cooks elegantly and departs after a great career in Organic Real Jazz opulence. JG: RIP! Joshua is more than a chip from the old Dewey Redman block: lyrical, passionate, soulful and, yes, very "human". I adore his split tone - multi-phonics, as one says. The last tenor soloist holds his own very well after absorbing the saxophone prowess that has preceded his. Cool swing from the troupe..

RIP Roy :-(
I don't think it's a bad list- I certainly agree with Pops at the top - I might have replaced Bix with Woody Shaw, Chet Baker, or Clark Terry - Remember, this was a top ten JAZZ trumpet list - which means more of a concentration on creativity, improvisation, passion, blowing beautiful solos - not on lead trumpet, high note, etc. -
