My sister Sarah of ‪@roxycreationsbysarah‬ and I are super excited to introduce our slow stitch project for next year 2022. Along with our mum, we are going to create a 'junk journal' of stiches in a upcycled book cover. We would love it if you were to join us creating this fun project.
We will take you through some basic stitches and create a stitch sampler. Each month we will randomly choose a background 'loose' theme along with an embellishment theme. We will share some of our process from choosing fabrics to embellishing. We will finish 1 block (page) each month. At the end of 6 months we will construct our books using 2 different methods.
We would like to also share some of our favourite slow stitch/embroidery artists that have inspired us over the years and a few places where we source supplies.
We are so excited and can't wait to get started on the 5th January, 2022.
We will keep you posted during December so stay tuned!
We hope you will join us on the fun adventure. If you decide to do so please share your work on Instagram using the following #'s: #roxysjournalofstitchery
#journalofstitchery
We look forward to seeing your wonderful creations.
Thank you so much for watching!

Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! How exciting! I can't wait! I just went to Sue Spargo's store yesterday for the very first time and that alone was an adventure. I had to drive 3 hours to get there and spent over 2 hours shopping while my dear hubby waited for me in the truck. I now have a wonderful selection of threads so bring it on! I can't wait to use them!

@@roxycreations679 It is a wonderful store and I want to sing praises to the young lady who helped me put together all that I bought! She went above and beyond and in today's world that is rare. I bought three kits ranging in ability and she sorted everything so that I didn't buy duplicates. I stayed within my budget even though I did have a nice budget. There is more to the store that I have to explore so I do see a trip in my future! I wish I lived closer because on Wednesdays you can join a sit and stitch!

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. I have been collecting fabric for decades, but I’m not a quilter, so I’ve done nothing with it. Hi, thank you, again for these inspiring lessons, (or perhaps you would rather think of them as demonstrations.) I had been stuck quite badly, no idea what to do. But I remembered a glimpse of one from this ep.1 and it particularly got me going. It was one with a vibrant red colouring, some crocheted pieces and heavily stitched. Soo, I made myself an accordion book framework, collected many of my practice pieces, added pages of base background, (unembellished) pieces to work on, squared things up, unpicked, added, subtracted, and generally prepared a book ready for stitching in, when the whim takes me. Thank you so much for your generosity. This plus your junk journal work must keep you very busy! How ever you keep coming up with ideas, I'll never know. I just hope you keep coming up with more.

I have joined in the 52tagshannemade and did complete a stitching book in 2020. Question 🙋‍♀️ the term slow stitching means what? I’m familiar with Embroidery, Cross Stitching, Needle Point, but have never heard of Slow Stitching. I’m very excited to learn something new that incorporates all the textiles that I love. Always enjoy your videos and hearing about where you live. Your talent is amazing to me. Thank you for sharing. Maggie

Sarah kind of described what slow stitching is in her video. It's taking the time to slow down and handstitch no machine. It then incorporates other types of stitching like embroidery. Slow Stitching is more free, laying fabrics, embracing holes, raw edges, fraying, texture and imperfections. It is really wonderful! Thank you so much!

Ohhh Yay Rachel, and Sarah and Mum! This sounds fun! Terrifying because I am a novice but fun. Most if my fabrics and trims are newish, nothing older than 20 years, but I have lots of fabric pieces I love and some I got from my Mom. I have been hoarding a lot of different batik fabrics as well and I have maybe 8 or 10 gallon bags gull of cotton fabric scraps! So I will use what i have and play along! ❤❤❤❤

Hard cover is brilliant!!!! I have empty book covers which I removed pages for other crafts. Absolutely brilliant 🫶🏼 I’ll have to search for more of your goodness… absolutely yummy

Oh, Rachel!!! I watched the video while on the treadmill and squealed out loud. Glad I was at home. This sounds like the most wonderful project and to do it with your sister and mom makes it even more special. Thanks for offering to let us tag along. I've already hit my sister up and we are joining the fun. Now to pick a book, gather supplies, and wait patiently. Thanks, again, Amy

How exciting! I love this idea, and since I didn’t finish with the tags, maybe this is more up my alley. I think I pretty much have enough stuff to fill many books, so I won’t need to invest much, perhaps some wool thread…. Anyway, thanks for this!
