What a gift this man is to God's Church.

I have been listening to these over and over again. They are very helpful to me in my spiritual journey to draw closer to God.

He has written and published several profound and scholarly works, is a great teacher and professor,as well as Divine, and is one of the foremost intellectuals in the UK.He is more respected throughout Europe than this narrow minded and phillistine little island,particularly in Russia,and very much so in the US and Canada. He will go down in history as a Dun Scotus or Aquinas of our time.

It might be helpful if you explained that assertion and provided some backup for it, rather than just dropping that bomb and then splitting.

Piltene 1. Christianity is a fulfilment of Judaism. Jesus and most of his disciples were Jewish. The Ten Commandments are Jewish. The prophecies of Revelations are based on prophesies written in Ezeikel and Daniel, as with the rest of the Old Testament, written by Jews. So obviously a scholarly theologian like Williams is going to be close to Jewish ideas and thinkers. He also mentions his inspiration from the fathers of the Church who were Christian. Guess a few more ill educated revivalist evangelicals could do themselves and their faith a favour by actually reading a few books- if that is not too much to ask. Alas it might be :(

Why did God choose such a primitive time and place to be born into ,and people who couldn't even write down what he said,(or even make a sketch of him)after all he had waited the hundreds of thousands of years that humans had been around ,so what would be the harm in waiting another couple of thousand,when all the media existed and people could report hlm properly and cameras could film what he did,(although even today "apparitions"and the like are never caught on camera,wonder why that is,)and there wouldn't be all these arguments/discussions,some of which question if he even existed.or wasn't an amaglamation of several individuals, as some believe he was.

Do you believe humans landed on the moon in 1969. I do - but many millions don't. Despite the overwhelming mountain of evidence - including televised landing, film, photo, eyewitness accounts there are still many who choose not believe. There are always those who just choose to disbelieve. Jesus could do it all under the scrutiny of cameras and even under lab conditions. There would still be many who would reject it and conjure a conspiracy - because they want to.

First of all, Jesus was a real person, not an amalgamation. Even if you don't believe all the stories, no one of any serious academic training doubts his existence. Second of all, key to Jesus was Mary. Without Mary there is no Jesus, and she lived when she did. Third of all, one of the key things Jesus brought about was an end to temple worship. No longer did humans need to enter a temple to connect with God, for now they had his son and spirit among us. As we all know, Jesus prophesied the destruction of the temple, which occurred ~35 years after his death.

I do like listening to Rowan Williams, and he can be quite engrossing to listen to.... until you realise he is spending all his time and considerable intellect on interpreting and contemplating bronze age mythology as truth.

Now it becomes clear- the man was searching for the Jewish influence, so he got that. He is no Christian, but a Jewish imposter.

Note also the apparent inclusion of de Sade as an important "philosopher" @7:56, if you can believe your eyes. Never heard of Gillian Rose before now, and can't be bothered to figure out how or why she would be important to a supposedly Christian bishop.
