I've been hand painting sign's since 1979, that looks like it was hand lettered ? Man would I of loved that in my workshop.. Nearly as cool as your channel. At age 57 still dream of visiting Route 66

I think these were screen printed. I do have one that was partially hand painted

@@HookedOnRoute66 Yea maybe the original was hand lettered looking at the shapes. Then they screen them plus usually see brush marks as the paint fades. Keep up the great work !

Thanks for the video! Did any states along 66 have the name of their state on the sign? Illinois in particular.

As far as I know, all is them did at an early time during the US highway evolution.

You know if you could work with someone to US made reproduction Route 66 and other highway signs you could definitely get some buyers.

Hey Rich,. I've been exploring 66 in MO, recently went to devil's bend. Love the restored bridge! I like how it's marked with the blue markers along the way historic 66 but it just makes me wonder, where did all the signs go that were in Missouri along 66? It would be nice if there was an original one posted ..

@Rich,... "Steel Sign" ??? Looks like a standard D.O.T. 0.80 Gauge "Aluminum" Sign to me.

About any vehicle can get there provided it is dry. I cleaned up the section of 66 that we own on our property by plowing off the overgrowth. There's not much that can be done beyond that.

Got a question for Roamin Rich.... Why doesn't Route 41 have the same acclaim as Route 66 ???....It's the LONGEST stretch (2000 miles) of U.S. highway in the America (From Miami, FL to the Michigan upper Peninsula)! It goes through old towns, Past old manufacturing plants and gas stations among other features...AND...Despite I-65, I-24, and I-75...Its still commisioned/still fully operable !

How many songs have people performed with it's name? How many movie stars had to travel it? How many dust bowlers sought it's pavement for refuge? Route 66 is what it is because of the drama and romance centered around it.

"California Dreamin'", "Hotel California", "Sittin' by the Dock of the Bay", "Little Deuce Coupe", "Surf City", "26 Mile" and many, many others. How many songs inspired people to travel 2,000 miles to Michigan or Florida? I also think that Hwy 41 is still an active highway, unlike Rte 66. People traveled Rt 66 in hopes of fulfilling their dreams.
