I want to do Route 66 to kingman from Santa Monica. I live in SoCal so want to actually do the whole route through CA. Heard the drive from oatman az to kingman is pretty scenic. So thought I’d add that part. I’ve been thinking about it for awhile. Thanks for posting. You’ve reinspired me.

That part is definitely nice. I wanted to say I had done the whole thing, but if I did it again I would start it in San Bernardino. The drive through LA is pretty terrible

One of my wife/the kid's mommy's favorite experiences on our California travels was at Santa Monica Pier. She had always dreamed as a little girl of an old-school vintage carousel like the one they have there (not the modern carnie ones) but had never seen one until then. It just awed her. SOOOO want to see a gig at the Troubadour. Kevin seems really patient & supportive. (Always working on getting better at that with my better half.) Also just love saying the word "Cucamonga." What? The Scooby Mobile? LOVE that bottle tree museum! East of Barstow...just love the amazing terrain of the desert which we're so not used to, but experienced last year. Even the old Texaco sign...so throwback-y cool. The kid loves Cars, and loves baseball...me thinks a future Route 66 baseball trip is in the works!

🎉🎈Congratulations on breaking 1,000 on your subscribers! 🥳🎉👏 I have no doubt it will continue to grow and pick up speed. Little trivia for you about the repainting of Roy's sign. Roy's Motel and Cafe owner (actually owns the entire town, bought it all for $425,000) is remodeling the entire place back to it's original design and is going to reopen the Motel and expand the Cafe into the garage/service station area after they get the water working with a reverse osmosis filtration system because there's no fresh water out there, it's contaminated from the salt mines to be saltier than seawater! He also owns the original McDonald's building you stopped at and is the owner/founder of the Juan Pallo chicken restaurant chain. I wish they would have left the original fading paint on the sign and just put new neon on it to keep the originality of it and just redone everything else back to new. Another nice Vlog and good imagery!

The guy manning the McDonald's museum told us about the same guy owning Amboy! I didn't know he planned on getting it all fixed up again, though. Interesting!

We have always wanted to drive the entire length of Route 66 to take it all in. I hope we get to do it at some point. It is kind of sad to see how delapidated some of the areas are without tourism. But lots of cool things to see still. Thanks so much for showing us around part of the drive!

The other Wigwam Motel is in Holbrook, Arizona.

The actual sign is at Lincoln boulevard and Olympic. .. the sign at the Pier is just for marketing purposes If you have a 4X4 the closed section of the road (broken bridges) after Amboy, all have bypasses which are easy to cross

Did you ever find out what they were filming at Roy's? And I love looking at old stuff too! Heading over to Kevin's The Abandoned Project now...

I've done route 66 from Chicago to California..But...California is so confusing...I LIVE in Cali..and still have yet to drive the surface streets...ughlll I need to do that still...😅😅🎉🎉 Happy TRavels.❤

Theres a few route 66 sites to see in LA, but it gets good once, you hit victorville and head east

No, it's on the 15 in the town of Baker on the way to Las Vegas... not far from Barstow.
