I am very happy you mentioned the foot steps of death...I did that. Here there is a device called the Red Weeder, it looks like a grass hockey stick made of strong plastic tubing with a cloth and foam "sleeve" over the short end. Very good on paving bricks near valuable plantings.

Why don’t you use mesotrione? It kills bentgrass, but not kbg, and almost kills poa annua (makes it really really stressed). And it works also as a pre-emergent

The KBG is still alive? I thought you ripped it out and replaced it with synthetic lawn, or even better, pavement!?
