You would love it here, except the brutal Summer weather. The Round Top Show is October and March.
I had a wonderful time watching the video, and learning a little bit more each time.

Thanks for coming along to Round Top!
Yeah. My weekly favorite!
I never heard the name "bobeche" and never knew of such a thing till today! Thank you 😊
I agree with you, Lady Mary Beth. I'm a purest! I refer the original finish on furniture, especially oak and walnut!. But the bleached furniture is much better than what the younger generation is doing to beautiful furniture with chalk paint! Once painted, it is almost impossible to get the paint out of the wood grain. What ARE they thinking?
Makes me want to hop a plane to Texas!

As usual, I learned a few new things. Thank you for being my font of knowledge
those LENOX ornaments - Winter Greetings - love those!
Amazing items……I am definitely more of a traditionalist ❤ I can appreciate that some decorators might enjoy the bleached look for a trendy home, but not for me😊. Wonderful video, thanks for taking us along ❣️
Great fun, thanks for sharing. Stay safe and have a blessed day. 👍
I love the table settings! Not a fan of the bleached furniture. Round Top would be worth the trip for sure. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have a collection of the aquamarine glass in my kitchen. Love those candle holders!

As always some superb items , quite like the bleach look would save a lot of dark brown items from land fill.
Thanks for sharing! I learn so much from you and appreciate the things I collect and why I’m drawn to them. Mixed feelings about the bleached furniture….what a fantastic place to shop for treasures!
Beautiful wind chimes and also I spotted some snowflake cushions. Love seeing the table settings. The perfect way to display.
I don't care for the bleaching either. Varnish brings out the beauty of the wood and the carved details. I am attracted to barley twist also. I love the aqua candle holders you bought.
oh i love it so much! I miss Round Top! All that transferware is divine.

i don't love the bleached furniture either - some pieces are ok but I don't love rustic so much. I'm very traditional as well.
The bleached furniture is a neat idea!
This was so fascinating to see, thanks for taking us with you.
Another fun and wonderful shopping day❤
Also, I loved the light blue candle holders, beautiful and a wonderful buy ❣️
Enjoyed the video, lots of nice items and antiques 😊❤
I have been searching for bobeches for years! Lucky you to find some-you give me encouragement! Great video-thank you. 🌸
Dear lady Mary Beth, I love this visit! Thank you kindly for sharing….love the furniture in your segment❤
I prefer the traditional myself; the only exception would be a piece that has damage & someone can create a beautiful piece by using their talent rather then trashing it. As a senior citizen, the prices are beyond my pocketbook & I am now more interested in giving away or selling many of my treasured pieces so another young person can enjoy them.
I find the criticism over bleached or painted furniture to be interesting. Personal style is paramount. I would rather the furniture be reworked and sold then left to rot and go in the landfill. Furniture is an utilitarian object ( it needs to be used ), I would take a refinished piece over a mass produced plastic piece. Also the idea of the original lacquer or varnish being something to be coveted is a an idea I personally disagree with as these finishes yellow and darken with time. I trust these artists and craftsmen to use professional discernment and refinish pieces that are not historically significant.
I enjoy your videos very much! Thanks for taking us with you on your collecting adventures. I'm with you on the issue of the bleached furniture. I also despise (too strong? ) the painting or (gasp) removal of gorgeous wood trim in historic homes. Many of us spent the 80's and 90's stripping the 50's - 70's paint from wood and now they''re painting it again. I'm hoping that the "bleaching" is just the removal of varnish which can be re finished. Of course, one can never get the original look back.

I agree! The downside is that bleaching changes the pH level and can weaken it.
Hi Mary Beth! Thanks for sharing your jaunt to Round Top. So many treasures. I imagine overwhelming in person.
The gateleg table was perfect & a reasonable price. So glad for your friend.
The baking forms are for Scandinavian Sandbakles - a lovely delicate tart my mother would fill it with warm or cold fruit soup at Christmas time.
I don’t care for the bleached furniture, I’m more traditional as well. The barley twist items were beautiful. Love the tour and someday hope to get to Round Top. I do like Gateleg tables myself. My Great Grandmother had one. They look feminine to me. Always enjoy your videos. Have a blessed week.
We always called it first Monday but maybe your referring to permanent shops there. I do not care for the bleached future but hopefully the finish was so bad that that wss the best choice. Thank you for taking us with you.👍💕

@@LadyMaryBeth Ok, I’m glad to hear. Please know that your knowledge, and featuring of items on your tours are second to none, Mary Beth💕
love love roundtop. Used to work for Paul Michael - owner of Market Hill He had a store in Lafayette for ten years
Some of the bleached pieces look like they would go well with a Gustavian look, especially if you rubbed a white wash on them. I meant to tell you that I received a set of six lead crystal wine glasses in 1969 but only one had the etched Seneca mark, from what I could find a New York glass company, I think you found an etched mark piece in Bellville, Texas? Love your blue candlesticks and it does look like the March aquamarine birthstone.
Thanks! This has been a great tour, and I’ve learned the names of some old pieces , and some you just reminded me of what they are.
Your slow steady Camera work makes this so enjoyable.

So glad you can enjoy your beautiful table even more now. Never too late for a new discovery.
I wish I had found the Charles Keaton tent when I was there.. it looked like a great place to source some treasures at more affordable prices!
I do not like the unvarnished wood finish on this lovely furniture. I agree with you dear Lady Mary Beth. I’m much more of a traditionalist and prefer the beautiful varnish with the satin or high gloss.
I would agree I am more of a tradionalist when it comes to furniture however I would rather see the varnish come off of these beautiful pieces and the bleaching over just painting the pieces. There are some pieces in which I can appreciate the 2 tone of paint and staining.

I agree. Better bleached than painted or in a landfill.
I would have so much fun shopping there. I have to agree with you I don't care for the bleached furniture either I'm a traditionalist also. I love the ceramic Christmas trees and I have 2 that my grandmother made for mom and I. There are some years that's the only decorations I put out in my home. I also inherited my moms Franciscan Desert Rose dishes and I am looking for more plates as several have cracks in them. I always look forward to watching your videos and you are my favorite KZreadr. Thanks again for making my Sunday complete.

My parents got me a Russian nesting doll that has the original stamp, and paper stamp on the bottom. It’s from the original company that made them!
I agree, I much prefer the original finish and I think bleaching lowers the value. Especially on true antiques. Love the older bobeche you purchased and what a find of the table for your friend.
No bleached furniture for me!
Yaaay!
What a great selection of antiques! It's almost hard to beleive! I'm with you, Mary Beth regarding furniture. I hate to see the original finish removed - along with the rich patina. I also don't care for the dry look on bleached furniture. It doesn't seem good for the wood.
I was so sad they took the finish off the carved black walnut!!!

Many beautiful items. I like original finishes. Not a fan of the bleached wood.
As always this was a great video! I’d love to go to RoundTop and I’d be shopping in the tent most likely. I’m with you on the bleached furniture as I love original finishes. And it was fun to see the gate leg table as I have a smaller one that belonged to my grandmother.
Great tour, Texas Round Top is on my bucket list. I loved the barley twist nesting tables, very unique. Side question for you? Would you share what bag you were carrying, I have been looking for that particular shape with a decent strap, yours make work! Thank you.

Hello Mary Beth I absolutely agree with you I fink the bleached furniture looks horrible I don’t know why anybody would want it in their house but it to me cheapens it to where the original varnish keeps its richness and originality to the peace but thank you for sharing you’re always so informative love your channel you have a good week
Hate they ruined by bleaching.

Altered coins do not violate any laws. There is no fraud with using for art. The law is requiring both items (fraudulently + deface) to qualify for violation, not just altering.
I’d much rather have the varnish left on my furniture. If I want stripped furniture I’ll buy some old furniture, strip, and refinish it.
Vc já garimpo mto 😂
Not a fan of bleaching. This video was great fun. Everything is bigger in Texas!
27:43 A lot of times the blue-gree color is added to brass handles to make it look old. I don’t particularly care for it.

I don't care for no varnish or bleached antique furniture. Wouldn't these furniture easily get stained without some kind of wood protection?
Oh, what a dream would be so fun to be there shopping with you! I do have to agree. I am more of a traditionalist. I’m not a fan of the farmhouse, look or the bleached furniture I am European girl traditional all the way!

It breaks my heart seeing beautifully carved furniture destroyed by bleaching or stripping. It devalues the piece and looks dry and deathly. To me, It is defacing art.
