Aluminum rods cause the egg smell. Magnesium/Zinc/Aluminum rods are the replacements I believe.

But isn't the magnesium rod to make sure the rot sticks to the magnesium instead of rotting out your tank

Any Android Rod last longer in a harsh environment isn't doing its job if the Android Rod isn't deteriorating it means the tank itself is deteriorating

Take a water sample, send away for testing and depending on their water condition you can size and select conditioning equipment that will treat their well water before it goes to the tank and fixtures. I also understand people are on tight budgets nowadays so this is a quick fix as well

That rod is not gone, looks like shit but it will be just a steel rod when it's gone, Im pretty sure aluminum is standard and magnesium is upgrade

Okay thank you for commenting! On this particular set up the manufacturer installs magnesiums and aluminum is an upgrade:)

Yes some places have extremely hard water here in Ohio..

Also the reason it rotted so easily is the copper is hooker straight to galvanized

I’ve installed them on several water heaters in my area. I don’t buy the $75 aluminum rod anymore. The Coro-Protect is a way better option. Only issue is that you need to plug it in to a 120 v outlet

Because with hot water you really have to be careful and make sure that rod is magnesium

Out of curiosity: if you were to have an Rotten egg smell in your Hot Water and do a Flush on your Hot Water heater, to verify the smell. This would be the next step huh? Wow 😮 replacing the Anode rod?

@@mikesworkshop8307 Thanks for the reply. I have to admit. As a woman, im afraid to touch a water heater 😂. I’ve told my landlord and he’s ignored this issue. So i don’t know what else I can do. Because I’m pretty sure my outcome is exactly like this video!

I would like to know which water heater you have and where to buy the replacement rod. They have different installation types.. depending on where you live you may be able to buy it from the box store or a plumbing supply house.. if they don't sell them then you will have to order it online. I hope that helps :)
