Roto Grip TNT....Can This Ball Be That Bad?

Спорт

A review of the newest Roto Grip Ball, the TNT. It's out of the box surface 2000, but with my surface scanner, it was reading 1500. Probably best used for fresh or heavier oil patterns.

    As a youtuber myself I appreciate this content man. Damn good. I just bought this ball yesterday and used it in league last night and practice today. I’m a hybrid new and not new bowler. My sister toured like 2nd tier WPBA and we grew up in the bowling alley with the Prather family and other great bowlers in Pensacola. I haven’t played league since I was 8 years old until the last 6 months. I avg about 175 and just now in this second season I’m getting into it, so I bought this ball. I’m kinda hating it. Same problems Darren Tang and others are having, I’m also having. I feel like I have to be perfect or I’m either Brooklyn or punching through or I send it out and it never comes back. Guy next to me this morning was practicing with his and said the same. He took it all the way to a 6000 so he could get it down the lane. Pro shop guy, who is one of Hawaii’s best bowlers, said that no one likes it out of the box. I am no exception. I’m going to take it to 3000 and see how I like it, but as he said in the vid, I think this a specific and unforgiving ball for certain conditions and not even 3 full games, but idk much. Last thoughts: - this ball has made me learn a bunch of technical terms and get the lingo down just trying to figure it out, so that’s good I guess haha - Lastly, I should’ve gotten (and if you’re reading this and newer, you should get) a Phaze 2 instead 🤙🏽

    The thing with this ball is the same issue I had with the hyroad max, the strong cover means the ball dumps all its energy trying not to hook immediately off the friction so it ends up hitting like a marshmallow

Currently have around 12 300’s just with the Idol Pearl and 5 800’s. Right now bag is The Fate, Idol Pearl, Eternity, Zen, Blue Wolverine and Phaze 2. Keep my 1000 grit Super Nova on back burner for tournaments only lol

    You were bowling exactly the way that ball works. It works great for me. Not a ball for high rev high speed. Lane shine changes it quickly. It's excellent for the house oil spill pattern, I love it. Edit: Gave up using TNT after good first results. Seems like the surface wears out. Ball has so many scars on it. My other balls don't

    I tried this ball (drilled neutral, I am lefty) at a local Storm demo day rolling 5 strikes in a row. I don't buy into so many of the reviews over-analyzing the ball, the surface and the lane. With everything, there are always variables to take into consideration and one must also be able to adapt, adjust and correct.

    Thank you for your question. It’s called StrikeSeeker. It actually shows a front view, back view, and the ball going through the pins but I trim all that out on the videos just to show the lane and line. So according to Kegel when I went to their camp they said it was 450ish on Specto. But I’ve calculated it with high speed camera and I think I’m around 400-430 depending on how I’m playing the lane. Lot of the complaints of the ball have been the surface out of the box for some reason isnt absorbing oil how it should. Lotta folks resurface it and it looks 10 times better. Something wonky has been happening with SPI out of box surfaces lately dull and polished.

    I’m about 18-19 off my hand unless I’m deep left or in front of the ball return. I think the pattern and surface had a lot to do with it. I was a higher volume sport pattern and it looked decent in the video, but in a house pattern it was terrible until I got some shine on it. Then it came alive. I think it’s one of those niche balls. I’ll be doing a video soon of changing the surface on the eternity and TNT, so stay tuned. Thanks for watching!

    Different strokes for different folks. Some balls suit the style of certain people and not the style of others. Some balls are versatile to where they fit many different styles and some are niche. I don't necessary think a ball is bad or the worst ball ever. It's just a niche ball which quite frankly most balls are unless you talk about things like the Venom Shock, Phaze 2, etc...

I also, put surface on the eternity and it looked better. I just swapped surfaces apparently lol. Thanks for watching!

  • @TheClovvn
    @TheClovvn Жыл бұрын

    Talking about getting left on house isn't correct, it all depends. All houses friction is different. I bowl at some houses where its extremely high friction, others soup. Also rev rate/ball speed, example 2 handed bowler you won't find on house shots playing right unless they're using urethane for house, which not many do. Also, the amount of games you bowl. Some are 3 games, some 4, and so on. You also have to factor in the equipment and rev rate and number of people you're bowling with. So pretty inaccurate statement.

  • @TrueHouseBowler

    @TrueHouseBowler

    Thanks for the comment. You can pull different factors out and say one doesn’t match up or is different from house to house, but for 99% of league bowlers, it’s an accurate statement IMO. Thanks for watching!

    I wouldn’t say they wouldn’t have released because they have had some duds over the last few years that were hated by 99% like the hyroad max, hyroad-x, timeless etc. Not every ball will be great like the Phaze II.
