Rothenburg, Germany Walking Tour (4k Ultra HD 60fps) - With Captions

Please also check our new channel: ‪@AdventureHunterTV‬
We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Rothenburg, Germany on August 2020.
Located on a plateau overlooking the Tauber River, Rothenburg ob der Tauber is one of the prettiest towns of Bavaria, Germany.
It is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town, a destination for tourists from around the world, and is part of the popular Romantic Road through southern Germany.
First mentioned as Rotinbure in the 9th century, it developed around a Hohenstaufen fortress and was a free imperial city from 1274 until 1803. The name "Rothenburg ob der Tauber" is German for "Red castle above the Tauber".
Our guided walking tour is about 3.10 miles (5 km) long, starts at Gallows Gate (Galgentor) and covers most attractions and historic sites of Rothenburg.

My very first time in Rothenburgh, Germany was in 1998. I guess I'm a nut for souvenir shopping or just window shopping. It was a short stop by, a part of the tour excursion. I enjoyed the experience very much it's like walking back in history! Europe is best known for preserving old churches, monuments, and art masterpieces by great artists. Beautiful just incredible! Thanks for your detailed video!

Really enjoyed the walk down memory lane. Dunke Schoon! I was stationed as a soldier in Germany twice 74-76 & 83-85. Was very fortunate to be able to hang out there on the week ends and also fly circles around it in a Cobra AH-1G helicopter gunship! At the 15:50 mark, I was told by some local that the folklore about the "cuckoo-clock" was that they Mayor saved the town from obvious destruction, as a giant tank battle between U.S. and German tank divisions (1944?) was going to occur and as the town was directly in the middle of the battle plan,he supposedly convinced the Commanders to fight away from the historic city. Just what I heard and found to be intriguing as a young soldier. I remember waving at tourist from the front seat of my Cobra as we flew eye level with the wall. Awesome place !

Rothernburg was almost totally destroyed during WW2. The town was completely restored as new brick by brick after.

That's partly true. The town was badly damaged by bombing to about 40%, but only the eastern part of town got hit, while the older and more historically and architecturally important center and western town were fortunately spared. After the war Rothenburgers rebuilt the destroyed eastern part so close to its pre-war state that today you can hardly tell that it was ever destroyed.

In 1204, a defensive wall with towers was built. (The towers include the Klingentor, the Galgentor and the White Tower). At the center was a Market Square with the Rathaus on one side (1240). In 1274, Rothenburg became an imperial free city.

No idea about the cost, but Rothenburg is small and at the same time filthy rich from tourism money, so they can easily afford everything looking pristine.
