Rotator Cuff Tear

The rotator cuff comprises of a set of four muscles that serve to stabilize the shoulder, including the Infraspinatus, Supraspinatus, Teres Minor, and Subscapularis. They connect the scapula to the humerus. In a rotator cuff tear, the tendons of these muscles become torn where they attach onto the humerus bone, due to impact, or excessive stress on the shoulder, leading to pain and limited mobility of the region.

I agree. A couple of years ago, I spent 2 months undergoing physical therapy for that. I don't know what caused it, and I don't remember doing anything stressful. The injury was very painful. Massaging, as well as hot and cold compresses were helpful in reducing the inflammation. In addition, pain meds were used to help reduce the pain. Fortunately, surgery wasn't necessary. I'm okay now.

It's not fun, this appears to have happened to me while/shortly after carrying my girlfriend and throwing her on the bed (I like to be mean, she was busy XD) Roughly 12-24 Hours later (the next day) I noticed severe pain in my left shoulder and really limited mobility in certain positions. It's even swollen! I mean, i'm not crippled or anything it just really hurts sometimes. So much so that it sometimes robs me of my sleepy which is why i started to take a 600mg Ibuflam painkiller once before sleeping. It helps, but the pain still comes back every now and then (that's pretty intense pain, Ibuflam 600 is quite a strong painkiller. The only dosage that's legal over here above it is 800mg, which you may only take once a day or else risk overdosing)

It’s what I love most. But my pain is only from certain movements and I am still able to do those movements just hurts a little sometimes a lot. Still have full mobility. If what u say is true then it’s relieves me to think it may not be a tear as I would be depressed if it was, causing me to not be able to lift for a while

I tore my RTC in May 2022. I could not lift my right arm on it's own until August. I opted out for surgery and did PT, Cryotherapy, Accupuncture and cupping. I'm so glad to be better, but I still have a minimal amount of pain.

After tearing mine, it took 6 months to heal with no surgery. The first 2 months I took it easy not doing much but dealing with the pain. The next 2 months, there was less pain, I did slow movements, rotations and raising/lowering my arm over my head with no weights. Going into the 5th month I started regaining strength and added light weights to my overhead press and weighted movement/rotations. 6th months and onwards, I was confident to practice MMA again but still took it easy. I hope this helps 🙏🏾. BTW, my injury came from not tapping out in time to a Americana during jujitsu. Remember, during practice, tap soon and tap often. It's not worth the ego trip. Trust.

Does 30 - 40% supraspinatus tear require surgery? Can it regenerate itself if left without a surgery? Are there any patients of a young age who had it grow back on its own? Or it never grows back because it’s impossible from the anatomy and biology standpoint and with special exercises we only make what is still attached to the bone stronger and the torn part remains torn forever?
