My engine was sitting for 20 years as well, all the parts are still within spec though surprisingly, was decently clean inside too aside from the oil being very dirty.

They say 2-1/8 because 54mm is kinda hard to find over here unless you order it online. I was seeing 54mm sockets online for 40-60$ while I can go to a tool store and get a 2-1/8 for 18$

Why does there seem to be a few manufacturers who do the aftermarket plates (and have been for years) but only super recently has anyone started making aftermarket housings? Guessing the manufacturing process for the housings is far more difficult/advanced and hard to be profitable?

You said it... decades ago looked into rechroming. When the business enquired into the replacement price of housings , the cost was low compared to the low volume of chroming costs

Not related to this video, but did you nail down putting a Barra to the 929? Skid Factory guys have made some nice conversions with toyota UZ1 V8, A340 automatic and ebay turbos, but I have no idea how expensive they are nowdays. Could be even harder to fit than a barra but would definitely sound better.

Just pulled apart my $700 Facebook 13b 6 port (wish it was free), been sitting for donkey's with water in it, worse than yours. Its got pitting in the lower sections of irons and minor flaking in lower section of housings and pitting on one face of one rotor. I'm just gunna clean it, reseal it and send it.

Awesome video. What a shame the engine was left to rot. Most of the parts are salvageable though. I would really like to see a follow up video on this

Was the six port a good engine and could you bridge port it or peripheral port it or even make good power turbochargeing it or is the four port a better option

For turbo the 4 port is better. The 6 port as a factory engine is ok in n/a form. Same configuration found in the manual RX8’s as well. A PP doesn’t matter what the irons porting is as you fill them in with devcon or similar and block them off.

Yeah. 10A and 12A stuff is discontinued, but you can still get the rest of it for the most part.
