Rotaries are back on the mountain
Welcome back Railfans
Today videos is pretty awesome because I got to go up on donner to see the rotary’s I couldn’t see them plowing because they broke but I still got to see them and chase them back down the hill to Roseville plus I got to see the spreaders working at soda springs plus I got to see the Amtrak 6 the California Zephyr in Colfax I hope you guys enjoy this video as much as I did filming it

These are rebuilt but one of the old one is up fighting the snow rn
The railroad name indication on the locomotives was SPMW. What railroad is that?

Incredible with all the resources up has they're still using those dinosaur rotaries. Interesting the size difference between the old fb and the sd

SPMW222 was rebuilt by a Sacramento company, . . . .

Those rotaries are ancient; way past their shelf life even with the serial rebuilding over the decades. They are essential pieces of equipment on mainline rail routes. They serve a purpose that no other snow fighting equipment can handle. Maybe it's time for UP to start the process of building new rotaries.
