Rosie update: I took her to the specialist for her planned surgery in December. The surgery did not go ahead as testing revealed the mass on her wing is not a xanthoma but is cancer. She is also developing a mass on her other wing.
It took me a long while to process this heartbreaking news. I have decided not to pursue surgery anymore. The trauma to Rosie is not worth it, especially because we don’t know how fast the mass will regrow (and it will regrow). I’ve decided to try to make her as comfortable as possible and give her all the treats and affection while I can. I’ve had Rosie her whole life, since she was a little egg in the nest. It’s been incredibly hard and sad to deal with this. Thank you for your positive thoughts
