Rosetta Stone Live Camden Palace, London, Tues 15th October 1991 - Almost a full concert recording

Музыка

Rare VHS video camera recording of Nineties Goth band 'Rosetta Stone' Live at Camden Palace, London on 15th October 1991. This recording features an almost full gig and captures the full atmosphere of their pumping tunes and the dancing audience (and the 'Quarriers' Rosetta's followers lol) of those classic 'Rosetta' gigs. Shot around the time of the release of their 'An Eye For The Main Chance' LP. This is probably the best quality recording for a live 'Rosetta Stone' gig filmed by a home video camera from that time.Enjoy...........
Playlist:- Intro, Darkside,Shadow,If Only and Sometimes, An Eye for the Main Chance,Sense Of Purpose, Leave Me for Dead & Subterfuge.

"Darkside" always had a rockabilly type of swing feel to it, it seem like! Man, this is like the heyday of 90s straight up gothic music like The Wake, Corpus Delecti, This Ascension, etc. A huge inspiration - ROSETTA STONE 4 LIFE!!!!!!

I still find it amazing that, between 1991 and 1996, Rosetta could sell-out venues like the Camden Palace or the Camden Underworld and, with the exception of "Siren" magazine (under the direction of Mick Mercer and Sheldon Bayley) received _zero_ support from the goth-hating music press. When the band played the latter venue in 1995, selling it out, I believe that "Melody Maker" decided to run a report on The Warm Jets performing in front of fifty people at the Amsterdam Melkweg instead. The mind boggles... .

Because not many folks could afford quality video cameras back in the late eighties early nineties that didn't need a body building course included to carry them about. Forget all that super tech stuff we have now on our phones and cameras now, this was basic analogue stuff. Oh if only somebody could go back with today's tech and record them live.

@@sirbrendangoth And venue security got really arsey with people taking in cameras. I even had Porl tell them that my camcorder was all there because of the band when I filmed the Astoria 96 but they still got shitty. Vid came out ok though :)

I'm guessing it was to compensate for the fact he's having to sing and play all those parts at the same time. Also two live members on stage isn't symmetrical if you want the singer in the center. At least these are the reasons I have been utilizing 2 guitarists with me on stage (along with our drum machine).

Porl King is the nicest guy… well, until he disagrees with you politically, but I can only lead a horse to water…. Anyway, as great as he is as a person, Rosetta Stone was among the top 5 worst live shows I ever saw. I’m told it was probably because it was an American audience, but every show I saw there was no audience interaction, no mention of song titles even when he debuted the new direction that Tyranny of Inaction was taking, he just launches into each subsequent song without a word. It felt like he just wanted to be done and dusted. Still he’s an amazing song writer and as good as some of his instrumental projects are, his voice is too good to stop singing.

+ zomb34n> The reason footage of them is so rare is that 1) they were 'Sisters ' clones who built their own Doctor X (basically a human drum machine), hence 2) they didn't last very long. Not a band though as far as rip offs go...

Not to mention the fact that Porl King, the founder and lead singer, apparently has severe anxiety and hated performing live. He's flatly stated that he will never perform live again.
