The most naturally gifted cast in history of sitcoms. They were so perfect together that it was so easy to forget its not real and to see them as real family.

Oh man you're gonna make me cry.... that feeling of watching TGIF on a small CRT monitor but the whole neighborhood was all watching the same shows at the same time... I miss that so much... network TV used to be so good that the whole country sat down together to watch our worlds most talented people perform comedy for us ...remember when we would be watching Seinfeld and we would hear the neighbors also laughing at some joke? I miss that so much... only thing like that now is maybe super bowl and that's dying
Roseanne is a gem of a show mainly because it is one of the first sitcoms to realistically portray a blue-collar American family with two parents working outside the home.

DJ Connor was one of the first kids to get spanked on camera in a sitcom
This show changed everything literally. It didn't deal with fairytale life of upper class like Cosby Show or the not-so-perfect life of middle class like Family Matters. It dealt with everyday challenges of the working class that most of us belong to. And it had in my notion the most naturally gifted cast in history of sitcoms. They were so perfect together that it was so easy to forget that they were just actors and that none of it was real.

I have to heavily disagree with the Cosby show part. That show was made for black people, it was a show dedicated to showing black ppl that there could be TV sitcoms where the family isn't broken or struggling with money. Clair and cliff worked hard to provide just like Roseanne and Dan. Both shows are important they did different things for different people

@@jaydenchristopher2614 In hindsight, I think that is something that the show did really well, compared to how forced a lot of things in modern TV seem nowadays: when watching those sitcoms as a kid, I didn't even think about skin colours of the protagonists. I grew up with "The Bill Cosby Show" and loved the innocent humor as a kid. When growing older, it started to annoy me though that it was all rather upper class problems and the general "at the end of the day (episode) , everyone learned their lesson and all is well" theme. Started to love "Roseanne" for being the total opposite and therefore a refreshing perspective, along with a more harsh kind of humour. But I also enjoyed "Married with Children" and "Family Matters" who were sometimes silly, but totally unique in their own way.

It did. I actually relate to this show more than any other show ive seen. Which is why i hate her all the more. I cant share it with anyone. Ever. She fucking to my show from me. Now whenever i mention rosean i get treated like an asshole, or a fool.
This brings back memories. I was born in 85' and i remember as a small child my mom would watch this and drive me crazy. Now i miss her so much and like to watch and remember the good memories. R.I.P Susan C. Gauthier of Revere MA and Colorado springs CO
This theme song man...absolutely amazing! It's a shame that most TV shows today don't really care to create theme songs anymore

If Roseanne and Family Matters had a crossover that would’ve been the best thing EVER.

Perhaps the most revolutionary sitcom of all time. Turned concept of sitcoms upside down. It didn't deal with issues of fairytale life of upper class, like Cosby Show, or not so perfect life of middle class, like Family Matters. Dealt with everyday issues and problems of a bluecollar and hard working family.

@Shandra9000mail Agreed. But answer me this: how many, except Roseanne and Married with Children, do you know sitcoms that showed bluecollar families? If you ask me, zero. Plus, Friends, Seinfeld, Full House and Step by Step were more about middle class, then upper class.

@Shandra9000mail Cosby Show most defenetly is Upper Class. You have a father who is doctor and mother who is a lawyer. That is upper class if you ask me.
There are many versions of this theme, but this is by far the best. The sax part is perfect. Good times.
🔥 👑 🔥 Thank U ❤
Love this series.Used to watch it on channel 4 every week.😊
These nostalgic theme songs just depress me now because they show a time when it was simply accepted that everyone (even poor people) could at least have some sort of house (even if it's a bad one) that THEY own and could raise a couple of kids. The worst off boomer could at least have that. Rosanne, Married with Children newer shows like Malcom in the Middle. Where is the show about people struggling to pay for a rundown apartment thats $2000 a month and putting off kids till its too late and dying penniless with nothing to show for it? I guess reality would be too depressing.
Came here for the nostalgia. It's good to see she Roeanne has had a long life and still living after all these years too because she was a pretty big woman back then.

We're very sorry for your loss of this show
When I was a little kid I remember seeing this on Nick at nite
Man, today I saw the video essay of José about the first 9 seasons of Roseanne and I looked up if I can watch it anywhere in Germany but nowhere. Watched this series together with my twin brother and my mother when I was probably 8 or 9. So nearly twenty years ago. When I lost my mother 13 years ago and we moved to our father I didn't got a hold on the DVD collection with the German dub. Nowadays they sell for between 250-400€ on eBay. That's childhood right there and growing up with a single mother and later with a single dad, I know this sitcom would resonate with me way more than other ones. It's a bummer it got lost. Hearing that intro was pure nostalgia that it hurt a little... But I would love to see that series again one day.
Intronitus is highly contagious....
Season 1 Rosie was my favourite!

There’s this random tv station called cozi tv that plays a bunch of classic tv shows. It’s the only channel we have that never cuts out so I found myself watching it from time to time. Never seen Roseanne before but I started watching it more and more when it was on. I was surprised how much I actually enjoy this show. Laugh tracks are an immediate turn off for me but for some reason I can ignore it with this show. Idk besides a few characters like her mom or randoms who chime in with a corny line, the flow of the show feels more realistic compared to most sitcoms. The lines aren’t such random setups to a punchline as they are more of how a family would actually interact with each other. Don’t get me wrong, the corny setup punchline structure does still exist, it just seems to flow a lot a lot better with a character who isn’t trying to be funny. Like I think it’s one of the few shows that really doesn’t need a laugh track, it would be funny all on its own.
