vintage is art and thats the difference. Its hype right now because people see a easier way of making money than dealing with the politics of the sneaker game and hype clothing brands. But it will go down that road because greed ruins every industry as usual. But Vintage is art and i'm glad its getting its just due because its rarer and harder to find than hype brands or sneakers. There will be those 1 million dollar tees that will sell in the future. And the difference with vintage and hype is collectors actually want to hold onto pieces so just dangling money in front of people isn't going to always work because true collectors will specifically not sell to people just because they don't like their vibe.

$2-5k for vintage tees is absolutely insane to pay! I grew up in the era.

Yo Paul first and foremost love the channel and your positive attitude. Keep it up. But to answer your question I believe it is more so gentrification than hype. Crazy how Black culture can be sold to the highest bidder! 5K for a rap tee, when a rock tee can be sold for a fraction of the price. The wild thing is most of the vintage clothing that is more “urban” in nature was most likely donated due to the owner having to give up “urban” clothing to fit America’s stereotype of a clean cut citizen. Now people get their hands on it and exploit the culture. Shoot, the men and women who use to sale these bootleg rap tees would get arrested, fined, or beat up my the artist’s street team. I love vintage fashion and it’s a way for my students (I’m a teacher btw) to feel confident without braking the bank. But the gentrification of certain items rap tees, Malcolm X tees, and old hand-me-down- Jordans is getting out of hand. I know I may get hate but just want to state my opinion.

I agree vintage is the new hype. For example Pacsun NOW has a whole section dedicated to vintage pieces online that range from $70-$200. Vintage is the new street wear hype. Every major retail chain like Pacsun and Urban Outfitters have curated section online and in-store filled with Carharrt, Dickies work pants, Levi 501’s etc.. Even Instagram is filled with same outfit aesthetic on various accounts. We’ve replaced box logos, yeezy 350’s,/boost sneakers. distressed zipper denim, and more with vintage. Even thrifting has reached a new high.

I wouldn’t say he’s a hypebeast 😅😬. A lot of what’s trending in terns of “vintage hype” or work wear Paul has been covering for years now. Not everything but some. I think his style has evolved with the times based on some of the trends/items that’s hype now.
