Rosalynn Carter grew from being ‘shy’ to ‘someone who relished politics and loved it’
Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter passed away at the age of 96, just days after entering hospice care at home in Plains, Georgia. Judy Woodruff, Jonathan Alter, and Anita McBride join Andrea Mitchell to discuss Carter’s legacy and her special relationship with her husband, former President Jimmy Carter. “She developed from someone who was shy and didn't like speaking in public when he first ran for political office in the early 1960s to someone who relished politics and loved it, wanted to be at the center of every political fight her husband was engaged in,” Woodruff says. “This was a woman who learned so much on the job and it came through when you spoke with her. She knew details. She did her homework. She did research and she loved the political game. She loved it.”

Mrs. Carter and her husband created a legacy that all of us could emulate. All we have to stop thinking about is ourselves.
God bless this great woman. She was the first lady when I was in high school and that was over 40 years ago.
Thank you for this lovely remembrance of Mrs. Carter, and in turn her husband. What an incredible modern-day couple. I also can't help from seeing the difference of Melania and Donald. the latter couple is so self absorbed and shallow, and Meliania had no depth as a First Lady. She was actually awful.
I wasn't old enough to vote for president Jimmy Carter and first lady Rosalynn Carter, but I remember exactly where I was when the two won the election. For some reason I cannot say that for any other president.
The Carters always acted very regal. Much respect for both. RIP. Unlike the orange trash criminals we have now that can't control themselves, called the GOP.
A lovely First Lady who was a true partner to her husband the President.
She, along with her husband believed in peace, something devoid of American war mongering politicians past & present. Rest in peace good lady, ur work here is regrettably, done.
Wow, look at them when they were young and beautiful.... Time is cruel; the years take their toll and rob us of our youth, our vitality, and our beauty; the wisdom we get in return is of little value.

I just cannot listen to Andrea. She cannot find her words. There’s a hesitation between almost every word every thought. and she has the mouth noise that so often comes with older people. Her producers need to tell her to hydrate more. It is time for her to retire. She has done wonderful work in her career. Let that be enough at some point it has to be enough.
