The song is really emotional. The message revolves around her life, looking back at her old self when life may seem to be more simple. Then to her current status wherein she's now really successful but realizing all that she needs are not those things but those she misses through her normal life, her family, friends, their love and support. It seems like a typical love song but Rosé said in her vlive an hour before the M/V's release that people were surprised when they saw the direction she went in because it was not exactly a love song. The "you and I" that Rosé sings about in _On The Ground_ is actually about her and her past self. This song is about her development and change in life to a more lavish level but still missing the simple things. She sings "You find out that your gold's just plastic." This means that the new life she has now is not as great as she expected it/not as valued as her own life. When she writes "Rosé" on the mirror that's her past self dreaming but then it makes a flashback to an even longer time ago where she only has "Roseanne" written. This shows her transformation from her past self to who she is now. Then right after the mirrors, we see Rosé in the pink dress looking at her younger self playing the piano and being happy for her enjoying the simple things she can't enjoy as much now. The white rose dress that the Rosé clones wears is the SAME dress BUT different color that Jennie wore during her performance of "Solo" on The Show Livestream :O Queens supporting Queens

It's like when she was just Roseanne, she wanna be on high surface and wanna be rosé. But when she is now rosé, then she realized that all the things she needs was on the ground. There's a lot of meaning and symbols, i can't tell and i don't have words to tell you guys. I can't process myself oh my goodness!!! And the Mirror thingy, when she wrote roseanne, she disappeared. My interpretation about that is when she tried to be rosé, her being just her/roseanne, disappeared. She worked hard just to get high then she realized she just needs to be herself (roseanne) and all she needed was on the ground. Idk 'bout you guys, though.

Yes, to be exact that's her story. The video and the song is for herself. Saying she miss her old self when everything is just simple. She miss Roseanne, because Rosé is the famous idol. Coz when she became famous she forgot her old self, she is blinded by the fame and she didn't even notice that all that she needs is already on her Family, Friends, the simple life. That's why the lyrics say's "Everything i need is on the ground". So she was saying on this song that no matter what comes into your life even popularity, you always keep your feet on the ground.
