Did anyone else notice at the Genesis Tiger was paired with JT as usual but not Rory as usual….he got replaced by Gary Woodland….Rory clearly got outcasted from Tiger’s 3 ball group 😮 Leaving the whatsapp group was a bigger deal than first thought. But then again Rory will probably flip flop back into Tiger’s arms next month and apologise, whichever the way the wind blows…

The only thing holding Rory back from joining LIV are the majors and being excluded from them due to becoming non-exempt were he not to win one this year or next while sliding down the OWGR rankings were he to leave for LIV to the point he no longer qualifies for them. If Rory wins a major this year and or if LIV players are finally awarded OWGR points he'll bolt for LIV in a heartbeat.

Rory looks so disinterested in the PGAT right now it;s ridiculous. He's sleepwalking on the course and appears to be going through the motions and fulfilling obligations. He looked more locked in and excited to play golf in Dubai last month in the two DP World Tour events.

He was used as a lamb by Monaghan and he has the money to play minimal golf, live like a king and have a nice family. Who wouldn’t want that. And majors now mean very little to him because the game of golf has been cheapened by greed. Pretty simple. Right Thinking Man? 😜

I agree with the comments that Tiger’s self interest is ahead of the players’ interest. Frankly the idea of an elevated season and a regular season is a great idea. If player is good enough they can only need to play the elevated season and the majors - fans love it, sponsors love it and it’s great for the PGAT and DPT to keep the competition standards up to the highest level

Completely agree with all the chat guys. It's a scandal that journeymen pros can hardly even earn enough to live. Let me tell you a story about a professional named Joe Dean ranked 2900 in the world and who had obtained his DP World Tour card in 2023. Sadly he could not compete on the tour until the Qatar Masters earlier this month. Reason being he couldn't afford the costs of the travel and accommodation. He had been working for a supermarket delivering groceries back in the UK the week before the tournament that just finished just to make ends meet. It was only his second event but he managed to finish 2nd at the Kenyan Open and win a 'life changing' 170k pounds. How is it ever right that talented players like this are denied the chance to compete and are forced to work as delivery drivers because the price of missing the cut is too high? Surely something has to give.

Every one gets a trophy 😳 and tomorrow the Match with Rory and Lexi Thompson who’s not even in top 100 hundred in the ladies tour 🤔

Good point about the weather. Starting all at once like LIV, everyone is playing under same conditions. Wouldn't that be nice at the Masters. Weather always seems to effect play.

Whenever I hear the talking heads on PGA Tour Radio discuss LIV, I feel personally insulted. They demean LIV so much that they are actually demeaning those of us who like it. When you watch a LIV event, they never denigrate the PGA Tour.

72 player field. 18 teams. Shotgun start (same conditions for all) 54 holes only needed to get to the cut to 54 after the first round and then 36 for the final round. All shotgun starts. Every team uses 3 scores for the first round and 2 from the second round and one from the last. A team without a "finalist" cannot win the team game. All players get paid minimum wage to play. Making the first cut gets a bonus cheque.Making the 2nd cut gets another one. The final top 18 get the big money. This is what the "draws" want, more money for their premium performances, (just like Jack and Arnie back in the day). A feeder tour "employs" the next 72 and there is an 18 player relegation at the end of the season. The next 72 players are Korn-Ferry type feeder.

I think Rory has an agreement with Yasir to save DP. We watch it regularly and it is a better product than PGA. Heck we were watching NASCAR instead of boring PGA.

"Actions speak louder than words" Rory would be better off stop talking and just sign a contract for $500M+

LIV is the global golf league! Its not hard to understand that is it?

After Rory goes to LIV the remaining “Stars” on the PGA with at least 1 major and a perennial top 5 player will be Scheffler, Cantley, Schauffele, Spieth, Thomas haven’t won much in the past 2 years dispute the weakened fields as a result of the LIV migration. Without the OWGR hammer most good players would already be on LIV.

Exactly. For now the owgr/majors are still slowing things down, but this strategy has already proven unsuccessful in stopping the exodus. All that is happening is the majors are starting to lose credibility as majors, which is hard to believe they are letting happen.

Monahan burned Rory, who wouldn't want to work less, and get paid more. The PGA F'ed themselfs and Rory, as well as the world knows it!!!! When will Monahan take a early retirement????? It’s simple, just work out how to give world ranking points to LIV or the majors will be diluted. That would lead to them being as popular as the Mexico tournament.

the players syndicate would be the smart way going forward but that will never happen not while tiger is controlling the rank and file, the pga tour monopoly have from the very beginning showed they are willing to destroy the game before they willing to give up control, spieth and rory are very similar in character and life values, if their plane crashed in the andes with tiger on board they would be the first to be eaten

Rory knows he has been backing the wrong side , all his piers are on LIV , Brooks is in his camp and id expect he telling Rory you need to join LIV , it’s only a matter of time before he joins LIV

The Majors run the risk to be downgraded to PGA Elevated Events....and if they don't change their stance on LIV golfers, that will happen!

The players need a collective bargaining agreement. That's how you humble a monopoly. A CBA is vital in monopolies.

I think Greg Norman and PIF are so far out in front of the PGA it's ridiculous.

When Tiger got on the board, I said this was bad for the lower tier golfers as you said. Tiger and the top players on the pga are still holding on because they still get lots of money from the pip fund. Tiger hardly plays any events and gets top money from this fund. What does the lower tier players get, nadda. Thanks to Liv, the lower tier players now get reimbursed on their expenses. Of all people, Rory is starting to come around and realize that the pga is not the entity to side with and Liv is heading in the right direction. Rahm realized this and was smart enough to make the move. Rory is torn tho because he wants the career slam and don’t want to let down Tiger and back out of TMRW golf. PGA better wise up as they are at a tipping point where if Rory joins Liv, Liv has the leverage and won’t need the pga anymore. The seismic shift will occur and change golf as we know it. This will finally make pga change and include all golfers competing.

Or if Rory “re-joins” the Euro Tour as his home tour and PIF becomes a financial partner to it. Then LIV guys can play Euro events with Rory. That could be Plan B for PIF to counter SSG.

The two things we can be sure of is Rory is not being very smart while also talking way too much. The only difference between Rory and Tiger and Jordan and the rest of the golden boys is that unlike Rors they realize this is their chance to cash in on this ssg money before everyone comes together. Then once that cash is more secure get even more money somehow once the Tour and pif come together. These guys are probably thinking Rory shut the heck up for your own good. But Rory as usual is caught up in emotion and thinking out loud. Regardless Rorys idea of 24 events is silly. If anything the world tour-LIv-will reduce events once everyone finally comes together so as players can compete at the top pga tour, DP and more regionally. Livs world tour can be as little as 10 events plus a team final imo. I want to see 2 events in Australia/south pacific, 2 in Asia, 2 in Africa/Middle East, 2 in Europe and 2 or so in North America. South America should get one as well. The rest of the players schedules should be pga tour and majors for the top players. And yes they too will have to pay top players to incentivize them to show up.

Rory the Hypocrite cannot be trusted. LIV please don't sign this guy, he is a bad investment.

I think Tiger is very naive and generally speaking always reflexively backs “history and legacy” in the game even if it’s against his interests. Rory got caught up in that mindset for a long time too. Not realizing as you all point out - the aristocracy (PGA tour bureaucrats, Augusta board members, PGA of America, Ryder Cup) execs and “non-profits” make boat loads and barely share revenue with the players. Amazing that the players haven’t flexed more before, because that aristocracy is amazingly effective at shaming them with “history, and this is how things are done”.

If they all banded together against Augusta it would be amazing. Augusta still treats them like peasants who should feel lucky to be around. I actually empathize with Gary Player and his pushback on them - multiple time winners aren’t even full members! Place would be nothing without the players.

I actually don't have the high regard for Augusta National as most. It is a monument to golf's dirty past of racism and exclusion. It was them who excluded the negro from the game. They just recently accepted women in golf. Have you ever wondered why caddies are not typically allowed inside the clubhouse at events. That came from Augusta National, who would not allow a negro inside.

Wouldn't it be nice if the great cat himself could find it within himself to fund a foundation for the sponsorship of players that struggle to manage? I wonder if he has ever considered the kind of legacy that that kind of philanthropic gesture might just seal him. It might even make him smile once in a while too.

DP World Tour shot itself in the foot. If Rory goes to LIV, PIF could have an alliance with DP World Tour which could expand into Asia. LIV would be premier league. LIV players could play occassional events on DP World Tour

Pro golf is bleeding fans. Neither tour will be able to grow the sport by itself, attract new fans and keep die hard old fans. Pro golf, divided like it is, will not be able to produce the next golf greats either. It's a no brainer, they have to merge sooner than later. What would quicken things up would be for all the pro golfers to form a players association. Pretty much every pro sport has one. It's sad that the most interesting thing about golf happens off the golf course :(

If find that your arguments about the golf aristocracy controlling the peasants emulates politics in the US and most of the world. Golf is easier to fix.

The pga tour will always exist as the top American tour. There’s so much talent in golf here. How big depends if The pga tour solves all its problems by letting LIv come back as much as they like, which many would.

Maybe Tiger should work on trying to be a devout husband the rest of his life. He can't play golf anymore so he wants to ruin it for everyone else. Or hit into a screen because he can't walk. Nothing says legacy and tradition like bar screen golf.

TGL will flop, people will tune in for the 1st one out of curiosity and then it will die a painful death.

Screw Rory. If he goes to LIV I'm done watching golf.

Shotgun starts rule. The pga tour has 2 tee starts regularly. And sometimes they have 6 when 3 courses are in play. Shotgun starts are amazing. It makes watching golf like watching team sports where everyone starts and ends at the same time. I ❤ shotgun starts.

Regular Pgatour is unwatchable now, even the signature events are so diluted because of not allowing LIV players they are greatly diminished. Sponsors are not going to continue to put up 20 million. Riviera was a disaster for Genesis and Tiger couldn’t even bother to turn up to present his trophy. Genesis must be pissed.

Tiger almost died remember. He woke up seemingly OK enough to tee it up, then suddenly became critically ill in the space of a couple of holes.
