    I think just not enough people have heard him. If you listen to enough of his live playing, a range of his songs in different styles, it becomes evident he is one of the great guitar virtuosos.

    @@jimmycampbell78 well Slash cites Rory Gallagher as an influencer, but yeah he was only really well known in UK and Republic of Ireland but Jimi Hendrix often mentioned Rory in interviews so you know he was good.

    You know he's a beast before he even starts playing....the way he got into open tuning in a matter of seconds, by ear, and then he starts off with that big whoop....man, what a legend!

    @@thecastle09 he'd cry if he heard that how silly, I'm playing guitar 3 years never heard of Rory till I was 19 and I'm 27 now and Irish I was sickness med I'd never heard of him, get a new guitar and look up dave Simpson he's an English man and the next best thing too Rory start by learning bad penny it's simple enough I haven't perfected it but I will, for Rory.

    I have this song on my profile, and every few weeks or months i come back to it on this page to see how the number have grown, it was this guy that got me interested in playing guitar when i was a kid, a real genius .....sorely missed.

    Cheers, Rory! Would have loved to have seen him and Gary Moore jamming together, two sons of Erin trading licks and putting folks' jaws on the floor. Both of them passed way too soon. Attention Irish blues guitarists: this is how it's done, so now you pick up the cudgel and make your statement. Don't let Irish blues magic die with Gary & Rory.

    Rory always embraced his audience. He made them feel like they were part of the show. He would jam, & hang, & talk to his audience like they were at his place. Very laid back, but stay away when Rory rock's that Strat, cause he'll just take you to new heights that you've never been to before. RIP Rory & keep Rockin'. Me, Dave & Still Kickin'

    @@mikeshaffer4912 Heathrow airport , Terminal 2 ,, The old terminal 2.. I was working in duty free and he and Gary Moore who was very chatty were looking around . Gary brought some sun glasses and Rory I think brought a travel plug..

    This man just loved to play. Here is someone doing their thing and loving every minute of it. I think this is (his undoubted prowess aside) maybe what made Rory so much better to watch than most of his contemporaries. I am so glad to have seen him live in his prime. Great stuff!

    He's brilliant! I think Rory's up there in blues heaven with Stevie, Jimi, and other dearly departed musicians who left us far too soon, just having the time of his life. And I hope we see them all again someday!

    ***** Hello there Aparecida! Well, my sister and I were planning on going to the "Rory Gallagher Fest" in Ballyshannon, Ireland this year, but cannot make it, so the plan is for next year. That is definitely on my "bucket" list! I will have to have my own festival this summer at my house, in June.... I am going to celebrate Rory's birthday tomorrow, as I am going to wear something plaid to work and listen to him all day!!! Our Irish God will not be forgotten!!!     I saw Rory live in 1989 at a jazz club in Tempe, Az by the name of Chuy"s. He blew the doors off the place. It was the best live show I've ever seen. Rip Rory.

    I may be a lowdown bass player, but I wanna guitar like Rory's playing! He came to my town, in the Southern Hemisphere, rocked out our old Town Hall in his jeans suit. Can't remember which part of the 70s, probably later in the era, but he rocked it off its foundations. RIP.

    Was introduced to Rory in the early 70's through the album Tattoo, I was about 14 and from then to this day he still tells a fine story.

    Purity and greatness are often not linked. Both words describe Rory. He never deviated from the music he loved. Fame was not important. Playing to an appreciative audience was. For that, I am forever grateful. He remains along with Robin Trower, my favorite guitar players.

We used to be a pagan people before patrick came, the legend of leprechauns exist due to the strong ingestion of magic mushrooms in our pagan culture

    I didn't know that. Thankfully my therapist taught me that depression always comes from some prior frustration. No point eating magic mushrooms for depression.
