When Rory played, I was not rock oriented. I discover him now. I'm gonna dig his songs. I'm actually captived by his music, his passion and his joy on stage. Also by what I guess of his personnality. Moreover, he was so cute and genuine. Someone asked to Jimmy Hendricks : What does it feel to be the best guitarist in the world ? He answered : I don't know, ask to Rory Gallagher.

This is such a fucking magical live show. I love that part nearing the end where he's yelling the vocal melody and the camera pans across the crowd something about it just gets me. He was truly bringing people together during a harsh political climate. This shit is so important, and now more than ever, corporations are strangling artists, threatening support for any of the arts. True freedom is only a dream, but this may be the closest we can get. Love that one dude in the mustache sitting there deciding to bop around once the camera hits him too lmao.

And THAT, kids, is how it’s DONE! 😎

What a way to start a concert. Best ever live album,each tune better than the one before. Undoubtedly the best,hardest working and most under rated rock blues player ever. Listen to rory g ever day,been a fan over 50 yrs. Rory gave his heart and soul every concert, no matter what. He will always be in OUR hearts and souls. Sleep well rory g. Love ya.

I saw him in the very late 70’s or very early 80’s in Corpus Christi Texas. It was at an old movie theater they turned into a music venue. Old velvet looking drapes kinda vibe, but great acoustics for what it was. I saw him there twice a few years apart. If you are reading this you don’t need me to tell you about him or his music. I don’t know how he found C.C. TX. but I am so glad he did. Also back then we could go right up to the stage and boogie. He was a nice guy and you could tell he was having fun. Damn such a waste,such a young age to go. ......ps I saw Alvin Lee there twice also..Nothing against Mr. Lee I’d Love to change the world too. I’ve never been compelled to write anything on him. Hell this is the first time I’ve ever done this. RIP Rory you are A Million Miles Away. Peace JKA

How comes he's so underrated?

One of the most under rated guitar players of all time. Throw in his edgy voice and he should be spoken of along with Pete Townsend, Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix. Oh well, those in the know appreciate what Rory did and those who don't know of him . . . you are missing out!

You have to love that classic Strat sound through a cranked up Vox. My AC30 is a monster on full volume and Rory was one of the first players outside of the British Blues and British Invasion to use the Vox to such a great effect. Pete Townshend would have been the first but ultimately switched to Marshall and Fender amps right before Monterey Pop Festival.

Had a 62 pre CBS Strat like Rorys. I fell on hard times in 1986 and had to sell it. I had been a professional drummer and a guitar " couch player " I didn't want to sell, but like I said. I needed money. Played off from job, new wife, new baby. RIP RORY BTW that Strat was in near mint condition Along with the little Peavy Pacer amp. I could pretend to be a rock star. LOL

This is my favorite personnel band version of Rory's. Saw him in Oct '75 at the Santa Monica Civic Center, but I can't remember who was in the band. I bet it WAS this band.

This is close to, but not THE version that appears on that fantastic live album from 1974. I know every lick on that Irish Tour LP (as a listener). Still, Rory was / is state-of-the-art. A fantastic player, who always played straight from the heart.

Yes, it's not the version of the live album but the one from the DVD Irish Tour 1974. Same tour but not the same concert. The sound is not as good as on the album, but there's the picture wich is quite cool.

I don't understand why are you people in the comments don't give any credits to the other drummers of the band other band members they were drop dead gorgeous to & Beyond Talent these people need to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame let's not forget the band as well not just focus on Rory Gallagher yes he was great but so were the other members phenomenal unbelievable talents God bless you all

What I can't get over Rort is that he never dates, his music is still just as good, and his image is timeless. He could just walk into the world now, as he is in this film clip, and he would fit in. Whereas, the audience look dated. They look like they belong in 1974. I swear Rory is a time traveler.

Maybe Hendrix wasn't as good in virtuosity as Gallagher, but he catched up with creativity. I'm not saying that Gallagher isn't creative or anything, but Hendrix on Band Of Gypsys fused funk and hard rock, which was innovative for that time. I adore Gallagher as guitar player, but I think Hendrix was more innovative than Rory.
