Rope grommet- fancier

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This tutorial shows you how to create a rope grommet that resembles a braided cover. It is done by interweaving two strands and can be done with a core or without one.
This projects is practical- you can for example use this technique to create a rope wreath. But it is also super rewarding when you finally get the technique down correctly!
I wish you luck and success with this one :)!

I have made one with 150 cm stands. Then made all the slack exiting on the same spot and using them to make a loop forming a closed 4 strand braid

Congratulations to make it easy to understand. However a couple of questions. 1/ you initially made 5 turns, with 7 or 9 I guess the knot will be more "tight" and probably the metal ring almost invisible 2/ you propose 1.20m of cords, is that for 5 turns or applicable for 7 or 9 turns? Despite those question, please receive my warmly thanks from France 👍

If you make it with an even number of starting turns you should get a mobius strip version with only two strips that twist around twice.

This seems to me one of the possible cause of an error which I frequently make: my ring ends up with a strange twist which mekes it not simmetrical. I have to verify if this depends that I sometimes use an even number of starting turns. I will try and then let you know

When doing a project where it takes 4 or more cords where you have to find the middle of each strand is there a way to keep the cord from tangling? Say that I was making a leash that was 8 feet long and used 40 ft per cord and also wanted extra cord for a decorative knot. How could I keep the strands from getting knotted up?

I made these over a pice of thick wire and once I had finished the gromet I pulled it out before dressing the knot.
