Roostertail Catches EVERYTHING... Under 100-Year-old Dam
Спорт
Went exploring in western North Carolina and found an old dam to hike to. The water was nice and clear and just loaded with fish. Used my ultralight rod and a Roostertail for some nonstop multispecies action.

Gorgeous North Carolina! Now that’s my kind of fishing! That’s one of the coolest old dams I’ve ever seen.
When I see that classic intro, I know for certain there's about to be some good old-fashioned fishin' about to happen! Never disappointed. Beautiful stream, too!

That was the first and only double rock bass release video in history!
Awesome adventure John thanks again for taking us along. 😎
What a wonderful and beautiful place to fish...wow.
John you manage to find some of the most beautiful places to fish. Love watching your videos keep up the good work 👍
You hardly see trout in these creeks but every once in a while you’ll get one. Good to see them biting in a healthy stream.
Y’all were wearing them out!!! Every cast!!! All different species!!! What a fun day fishing 👍
Looks like a cool place to fish. Thanks for the great content.
We were just sightseeing around Santeetlah a few weeks ago...we took the Cherohala and drove up the road that runs beside the Cheoha to 129 and then went to Fontana and looked around before heading to Cherokee and then through the Smokies back home to Kentucky...beautiful area...and we only scratched the surface of all the beautiful places in western NC.
As a kid, my first in-line spinnerbait was a Shyster. I just checked and Luhr-Jensen still makes them. I caught lots of fish on those lures. I like Rooster Tails and Blue Fox Vibra max work well also. Thanks for sharing and have a Blessed Day!
you have fished a lot ot lovely places but that dam looks almost magical and the fishing was amazing . thanks so much for sharing :)
Great video and great fishing and beautiful day and area!! Thank you for sharing and taking us along with you guys!!
John, Great Video and Fishing . Rooster Tails do catch everything you can't beat them. Thanks For Sharing and God Bless.
This trip just keeps getting better. More river exploring and so many different species. Just take it all in brother. Blessings John

Cool looking place to hike and fish ! Pap Blevins
My state ! Lots of fish everywhere; mountains, central part, and coast. I’m so blessed to have called it my home for these 66 years.

I live in south Alabama and feel the same! Hopefully this young generation takes care of it!! I can go down a little creek and catch more than I can eat for a while!!!
Truly unbelievable opportunity, wow! Thank you! 🙏
I'm 75, and my first spinner was a rooster tail. Then I got infatuated with worms and plugs. Use a larger Roostertail, and you eliminate many of the smaller fish.
If you see the classic intro you can count on the video being an absolute banger, and of course, we were not disappointed!
Great video John. Looks like the trout you caught looked like they were stocked.
@14:32, I am no fish expert was just doing a little internet searching came up with possibly a Appalachian brook trout or Char. What a beautiful awesome place to fish!!!!
Rock bass are very underrated fish. They put up a good little fight for their size. And they're tasty when you cook them. Got some big ones up in lake Erie. 1, 1 1 / 2, even 2 Pounders. Another beautiful spot John you can pick them God can make them.

Nothing much else to say . This was just beautiful .
The fox line spinners are hot. That's a nice secluded fishing hole too.
That looked awesome and near campsites...fun all the way round.
Rooster tails are gods when catching fish big and small my favorite lure to use in saltwater/brackish/freshwater my first ever bluefish was on a rooster tail
Great video. Beautiful scenery. Like the intro. You make the best videos. Thanks for sharing
What a great trip that was! Wish I could do that , sometime. Thanks

Wait is it rare to no get affected by it cause i don’t
cool spot keep it up
Used to love catching rock bass and green sunfish in a local creek.
Ah...........memories. I was a rock hopping small stream fisherman most of my life in the northern Rockies. No more. I have trouble just walking across the room. But I love your obvious enjoyment in discovery, especially since you are obviously a sportsman, not just a "bigger, faster, louder" Bass Pro type of person.
I’m obsessed with inline spinner fishing 😂❤this coming winter I’m going to buy the kits and make my own custom inline spinners with single hooks for days I don’t plan on keeping fish. Then I’ll have my spinners with trebles for when I want to keep what I catch. beautiful catches! Keep up the great work 👍
Loved this! Continued success brother!
This video made me hungry😂. Rock bass are very tasty to eat.
WOW! A fresh water fishermans dream! beautiful, quiet spot, and you never know what you are going to hook. And warm water and cold water species in the same spot. Just doesnt happen very often. Thanks for sharing!
What are epic day of fishing Congrats. Happy fishing
I love using Worden's Rooster Tail lures.
I've been catching catfish on a rooster tail this week.
Vintage intro! 👍
That trout!
Nice trout, I use roostertails as well great lures👍
We call those rock bass, goggle eyes..fyi.. good vid
YES, YES, YES... Love the opening clip 8-)
Beautiful stream! Sweet fishing!
Let's go!!!!! Appreciate all that you do Jon!!
I liked your video wasn't expecting the let's call it "positive message" at the end.
What a great time fishing! blessings!
Great video and a beautiful place to be fishing
The 1st trout you caught...might have been a german brown! The 2nd larger one looked like a hold over rainbow that came from up stream! But wow what a honey hole! Rock, small and large mouth PLUS trout!? I'd never leave... Btw...a fly rod would KILL in that spot! Great catches nonetheless!
Man what a beautiful place to fish!
gotta love that TFO rod I have a 7'2" light
Love you videos. Little of everything on this one. God bless
I used to catch rock bass as a kid, good eating.
I've done a bit of creek fishing around here, too.

Nice video John, those trout are coming up from the bigger river down stream and the same stream farther down. as the water gets hotter they want to be where it is oxgenated more.
What a setting!
Dang it! I was just up there! I shoulda got the license. I always have the rooster tails handy.
I've never seen a rock bass that big
Santleetah has steelhead. Very well could have been one!
Cool vid
Nothing like getting Loaded with ticks and chiggers and maybe snake bit the fishing would really have to be good for me to go through all that
Shorts? Shorts? What, they don’t have Poison Ivy where you’re at? Lol. Don’t tell me you’re immune. Sending out thanks for another great video and a case of Calamine Lotion, ya gonna need an ocean!

Haha.maybe it will be cleared out for the next time
The trout are probably stocked there. The small streams hold native trout.
Luv rock bass good fight. Tasty
my favorite go to for rock bass and smaller fish is a white with red eyes jig with a two inch white with red tail mister twister
I would love to see you come to Ohio and fish our creeks. Some of the best I know of. 5 and 6 lbs occasionally and 2to3 lbs quite often

The Roostertail is a fish getter. Always have to careful with snagging them. Lost quite a few that way.

Does the state clip a fin on stocked trout to help identify them from non stocked trout.
John, what length is that Rod? And what's your fave overall UltraLight Rod length and why?
I got tired, just watching all that action
What brand Rooster tail/ color did you use?
I could be there all day and just take it in. Beautiful thank you Heavenly Father
I know where you were fishing and I believe the trout did spill over from the lake. They are lake bred wild rainbows known as stealhead. I know some giant ones come up the rivers on the other side of the lake in December to spawn..Here in the midwest winter stealhead fishing is prized on the Great Lakes.

Best fishing, when you dont know, what species will hit your bait next.
One of my favorite places to fish is under a dam, but sadly it is on private property. :(
Man I hope that isn’t poison ivy your walking through
