Roosevelt Lake, AZ- BFS Fishing At One Of Arizona's Most Popular Lakes

Спорт

"BFS stands for Bait Finesse System. BFS fishing uses specialized baitcasting reels and rods to cast lightweight lures that are usually only used with spinning reels and rods. The technique is designed for light lines and lures." - generated with AI
There is nothing like catching a giant bass on BFS. It's a real challenge to fish BFS around heavy cover, as I do in this video, but it's also a TON OF FUN!
I have four BFS combos. I use Kastking Zephyr reels and a variety of BFS rods from Shimano, Dobyns, & Old 18. All rods are 7ft, 1-piece.
I rig two rods with 20# braid and the other two with 8# braid, with fluorocarbon leaders of varying strength depending on the type of cover/structure. I will throw lures up to 3/8oz on these setups.
Thanks for watching!
Mike

That was a great looking area to fish over the grass. You slayed them again. Congratulations to another awesome day!

Really nice fish. I haven’t been fishing for a long time. I used to enjoy fishing for crappie with light weight tackle. I know that’s not very impressive but it reminds me of a wonderful time in my life.

@@MichaelLePore-e9r Hi, I launch at either Orange Peel Rec Area or the boat ramp at Indian Point Campground when I'm fishing the Tonto end of the lake as I am in the video

Great content brother! You inspired my son and i to head out there last weekend. He caught his first one on a Texas rig and is hooked (no pun intended). We put in at indian point and paddled almost straight towards orange peel and fished that small point, didn't go much further north than orange peel. Would you recommend heading further north?

Thank you! Congrats to your son. Sounds like you had a good time out there. I haven't been to Roosevelt for several weeks but I drove by there last weekend and the water level looked a lot lower. I tend to follow the fish. I hunt around with a search bait, usually a worm, crankbait, or a topwater lure, first thing in the morning to get an idea of how aggressive the fish are and what depth they might be holding. That usually dictates where and how I'll spend my day. It's hardly the same each trip so I won't commit to any specific location. I'll go wherever I can find the fish. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for watching and good luck out there!

You are very welcome! I put some info on my BFS setups in the video description if you're interested. I fish my BFS gear a LOT! Main advantage is weight; I can sling 'em all day! I also like the click-drag and shallow spools.

Thanks! It has been a good year for sure. I'm sure it's mostly because I learned so much last year in my first ever season of bass fishing. This was a few weeks ago. Water temp was probably high seventies.

Would you ever consider doing a paid guided tour? I have a kayak with a trolling motor and enjoy going up to Roosevelt when I can. Let me know if you’d be open to something. I’ve really been struggling during the summer.

@@Epicjfp I get asked this a lot. Tbh, I have to politely decline. I simply do not have the spare time to take on such an endeavor. My advice if you're struggling...keep watching & learning from YT videos but most importantly, get out and fish as much as possible. Make good casts tight to cover and plan on doing that 1000 times per trip (not joking). I may make it look easy in the 20-30 minute clips I produce, but what you're not seeing are the 7-10hrs I spend on the water each and every trip. Best of luck out there!
