Rookie's 1st time ever in a Street Stock & Rachel's 1st Step to Getting Ready for Dirt Track Racing
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Rachel is a total Rookie who has never driven a Street Stock or RaceCar at all. This was her first time driving and I took her to a concrete tarmac to start learning how to handle this leaf spring Camaro. Before it was over, she had shredded the rubber off the RR and convinced me she was ready to head to a real race track.
Dirt Race Life is all about grass roots Dirt Track Racing both the technical how to and the at track action ;)

@@DIRTRACELIFE I agree, BUT you have to consider that 1) she has a really good car that you make damn sure is safe as well as fast. 2) what you did with her on the tarmac and by using the radio instilled alot of her confidence. So once again, way to go Dad.
Top Job !!!

@@DIRTRACELIFE That is awesome! I actually have to go load down there tomorrow lol.
Jason probably when you get her to the track walk her around show her we're she should be getting off the gas and on the brake. Don't know if you have given it any thought but just start out starting her trail braking it will make her a better driver and help keep it traction up.

That was a smart move on your part. One thing I would suggest and I’ve told other people is to find a local track that isn’t narrow and runs a lot of laps instead of cautions. That way she can get laps in. I’d run that track for at least 1/2 a season depending on how Rachel does. You can’t learn how to race by running caution laps.

Thats why I am hoping to get her up to Camden, TN or Poplar Bluff Missouri for the next practice. They are both very wide low bank tracks that would be a good next step.

@@DIRTRACELIFE is that close by to you? Again somewhere she can get laps in. I’ve seen it make a difference in developing a driver. That’s why I mentioned it

Yes, The Dyersburg Army Airbase is a retired WWII B17 Base that I can see from my house. But it technically has city streets through it. I can get a pass time to time, but if we did it regularly, it would be an issue.
In a previous video u said ur completely different from where u started on the coil car for this yr....can I ask what you've learned thatay help me

I'm working with BSB and am changing up the springs all the way around. Way more rr. Less left rear, more on front across both. Chain on left rear. Scaled by preload, not lr bite. I am still in process right now. More coming though when I am able to go through it on video.
Looking thru your video's... maybe Im missing it. Do you got any video's on exhaust systems. Trying to decide what to run on my street stock.. thinking Y pipe. We have to run a muffler.
@DIRTRACELIFE
Жыл бұрын
I built a y pipe for my coil car then was informed it was illegal for CRUSA (never found it in the rules but go figure). I didn't make a video on it. Sorry for that. But y pipes do add torque if done right. If you have 3 inch collectors on your headers you merge them into a 4inch and if you have 3.5 collectors on a big motor and 4 barrel, then go 4.5 on the merged pipe. You need about 18 inches after the merge to get the scavenging gain and don't go bigger on the merged pipe or it doesn't work because the signal (the pulse of vacuum coming from the other side) looses its effectiveness.
