Rooftop A/C Install, Everything Is Broken!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Parts have started arriving for this 1953 Kenworth Pacific bus. In this video I install a rooftop A/C heat pump unit. I have to fix a few other things along the way, but eventually I get the job done. Now the interior is a nice place to work, so I can move on to other repairs.

"I'm not having fun, which means I'm doing it wrong. So I have to do it a different way" Damn, it really is that simple, huh?
"The only problem is, it doesn't work right now" 🤣😂 Sounds like me in my garage getting my second hand tools ready for fixing my house...
Brother, you are SOoooo American! Yankie ingenuity has always been the motto of my family. This is the way things have been done by the common man forever. Thank you for teaching this generation of have-nots that, that doesn't matter. Just do it! ! ! !
I am absolutely laughing my rump off! This channel is the best! None of this scripted “can we fix it in time” crap. This is a true “one of us” channels. Can’t fix it, just ignore it! 😂 Love it!

"So, I took some guesses" .... I'm still laughing.
A tip from Mustie1 is to warm the old tape up in a microwave first. Works as good as new.
It does my heart good to see rather round about path to getting a project worked on you have to take. It makes me realize I'm not alone on the island of "Oh for the love of Saint Pete! I have 5 hours of work to get to work."
This guy is fantastic, such a fun video, cant stop being amused by his 'good enough' technique and his ability to fix anything, so far 🙂. Keep it up I'll make it through all your videos as I'm bingeing them. I need a happy fix. Thanks
I worked in an rv factory for years, installing metal sides, roofs, doors, windows, and roof top air conditioners. Your work looks great, if your having fun....
I don't know this gentleman's name but I appreciate his frankness and down to earth approach.
Low-Buck videos always make me happy! I wish they were longer.

Me too. I love the content format. Different from the rest and enjoyable to watch.
you are awsome dude. love the improv in all things. amazing. refreshing change from the normal youtube mechanic experience where everything is uptight. totally real. getting things done with what's at hand. thanks!
Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, thank you for the laughs.
Thanks for another exciting and fun upload. Your genuine nature and approach is so under-rated. No bs, just honest work from a relatable fellow.
I gotta say this was the most njoyable videos I’ve watched in awhile!
Yep. we're having fun, watching you repairing things so you can repair things! Seem to be able to relate to that.
Very enjoyable upgrade. Nice to see every wire known to man was installed in your dash. ..Thanks for the Vid
Your comments are pure gold. "Luckily, I make stuff up as I go along." JAJAJAJJAJAJA
As long as the can has a picture of an RV on it, it must be good. I needed a good laugh. Thanks for the video.
A real life Mad Scientist and a Master of Dry Humour. I love it! With all love and admiration from Nagaland, India
You really do make me laugh out loud 😂. Very interesting, you navigate so well through all your setbacks.
I am enjoying this bus project! Thank you sir!
Totally relatable, SSDD ( Same $#!+ Different day)! I had only one project to complete today... After unjamming the nail gun, the broken power switch on the air compressor, and figuring out where I put the nails . My estimated 2 hours project took all day, and I still have more yet to finish when I have time to get back to it! Brother... I feel your pain!
Always look forward to your fun escapades
This guy deserves at least more than 100 k subscribers. Come on people spread the word its just as good as VVG
Even with the no reverse issue, that man lift is worth gold! That roof structure is many times stronger than most new motorhomes (not based on a big dollar bus). I live in the south, we run our generator most of the time during the summer to power both roof A/Cs while traveling. Love the content!

Same here only we have 3 roof top AC units and a full size residential refrigerator.
I love that you have to everything first to use it. For me, its figure out where i left it. Also when you said "another one of my only concerns" i cracked up. Fun stuff.
An hour ago I didn't even know what a tow tug is, and now I think I need one. Great work overcoming all the challenges to get your A/C installed!
You're doing a good job! I like the way you work thru a series of issues to get a task accomplished. You know, some people would see each issue as an excuse not to get the task done - any one thing would stop them.
A/C is a must have .. I live in Oregon and we have 2 in our RV and use them a bunch .. can't imagine the heat there ! 👍👍
Thanks for another great episode in the epic 1953 Kenworth bus refurbish.
Working with flats and curves when it comes to connecting them is a challenge
What a excellent way to start you day ,Low Buck Garage ,a very talented gentleman subtle dry humor , his trouble shooting techniques seem strange at times however is is very clever ,see what I mean ,His humor is priceless ,Just pay attention ,He really knows his stuff
Been following this story after watching the one on the "old" bus. Great "shakedown" trip you did and certainly helped find/fix some faults. Should be a great tourer when it's finished.
Very Ingenious on what you do Sir. And, I Love Your Dry Sense of Humor ALOT TOO‼It's look'n Good on this repair, I must say.
I love this RV, great vid as always 👌
Really glad I came across your channel, I enjoy it very much. I wish you continued success!
The thing I like the most, is that you walk us through the troubleshooting process. Priceless.
You can buy a soft start capacitor for the AC.
Love your videos and your bus ,keep up the good work 👍.
I'm really enjoying this project
Just found your channel and am commenting on an older vid. You’re like a care free Hank Hill. Good stuff.
I'm really loving these bus series.
Great job. I am glad you liked the turbo nozzle. Fantastic job on the install. Thanks for sharing your talents and adventures!!!
Lots of cool work completed
I'm having fun watching you... 👍
That tow tug with Coleman axels is a serious machine.
Every time I watch your channel it changes my mood and attitude for the better. Bravo! Please keep up the awesome and inspiring work.
Your dilemma at 9:02 sounds just like me and my many projects.👍🏻🍻🇺🇸
Nice, thats a sweet old bus
Nothing like watching an artist at work!
Always happy to see you upload a new video! Your way of working is very relatable, and also inspiring, as you truly just make do, with what you have!
Great work, as always! That professional sprayer made all the difference 😄
Love the channel! Keep up the great work.
So very enjoyable and entertaining. I love your fixes. I really enjoy making old stuff useable. Thanks
This channel deserves just one word: genius !!
Well done.
Dear LBG 👍👌👏 I absolutely love this RV bus series. A lot of progress happened and you opened up some cans of worms (which is completely normal while doing a project like this). This bus seems to need a complete overhaul, especially the roof sides are rusted out/through (unfortunately inside and outside). I really hope that you will somehow find a way around a complete restoration because unfortunately the vehicle isn't worth that kind of huge effort. The new AC unit seems great. I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video part. 2) If I remember correctly, you didn't give/change back the green 4WD international pickup truck light hearted. The scrapyard owner Silas, "Adventures made from scratch", just showed a nearly rust free example that is for sale. Unfortunately including rats nests. 🙈 But despite a bit front damage, the truck seems fine. I don't know how far away his scrapyard is but maybe you are interested in having an International 4WD pickup truck again. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
Very creative the way you assemble the air conditioner on top of the bus and power it. This is a great bus RV.
This is just genius, funny and thank you.
Awesome video
Loving this project. Also nice to see that I'm not the only one that has to fix 4 other things to get to the one big project.
Hope something is not wrong there have not seen a new vid for a while really like this channel.

April was crazy, but I'm getting back on track!
This Man can take multiple vehicles in a yard and fix them,,Sometimes we're not in the mood,,but when you need to,,everything is taken care of,,,
To fix multiple things in order to get one thing done reminds me of that opening from Malcolm in the middle
I like your "moss scraper". Also good defense against nogoodniks
Loving this channel.
To clean the roof of plantlife, you should have bought 15% sodium hypochlorite, I use it to clean paving flags her in England, brings them up like new in a few minutes. I buy 20 litre barrels of it for around £30.00. It's the same stuff as bleach, just a concentrated version.
Your tenacity is amazing. I find it very endearing. I'm not sure if you know this, but I am certain that's not a travel bus at all. It actually is truly a can of worms. But if you're having fun, then it's a a travel bus.
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza.. a hole in the bucket, dear Liza: a hole!😂
Wondering if spray foam insulation would work in the empty spaces in your roof? Of course I would expect the before and after testing! Keep having fun.
Always enjoy your videos. They inspire me to have more fun on my projects and not to get too hung up on perfection \
Get a "soft start" for the AC unit. will cut your power to get AC going way down.
Painting the ceiling white really made the interior way nicer. Also the new air conditioner means more room on the inside since the old one took a lot of space.
It is great seen a fellow New Mexican putting out such fun content.
Love this channel.
I just stood an extension ladder against the side of the RV. AC only weights 100#, so tied a rope to it and with the wife's help, slid it up the ladder. I don't have the technology you have.👍👍
I always look forward to your videos, but this one was particularly riveting. Riveting.
Another great video!
You work and talk just like I work. Coming from a fellow DIY'er who has wired complete homes, built and refurbished everything; you do nice work and should be proud.
I remodeled my brother's BSB motorhome / race truck and one of the cheapest and transformative jobs on it was to cover the celling with some grey carpet and inset lights which cuz now a days are LED don't need a massive air gap round them cuz of the heat. The Grey carpet which is just uses spray adhesive made the RV look modern, clean and tidy. I will totally recommend this to you to do especially as it seems you've got no insulation up in the celling. Keep those great videos coming there and you are great
I enjoy all of ur videos and I am amazed with how fast u can get things done in a day keep up the good work and until next time hopefully see u soon again can't wait for another upload video it's been great watching all ur videos it took me 2 weeks just to catch up with ur current video's and I am happy to watch them
Love the Jeremy Clarkson style intros.
Looks, acts, walks and talks like Garfield. I just want to see this guy tackle multiple pans of lasagne.
29:50 add a rgb led strip on the top of that edge around the ac unit. makes for nice ambient lighting. :) (yes i know this video is basically a year old.)
Nice work!!
I love this so much.
u do some funny projects man lol i get a kick out of ur fun toys
It sure is a good thing that you know how to fix things. You have a lot of body work to do just to seal the roof. May the force be with you.
Give your self a double bonus win!
That ac instalation is so COOL ❄
Excellent video Low Buck Garage :) also take lots work yes and interesting job did on Air Conditioning in bus camper too !
...man sounds like my typical saturday, except your throw in a thunderstorm and the wife unit's honey-doo list
Great job!
Food for thought 🤔... Years ago I found that products that were canceled was because the ingredients that were inside were to dangerous for consumers... I learned to try and scorece industrial supplie houses to get some thing strong enough....for example you can go to box store and buy weed killer that doesn't work or you can go to Fead store that Farmers buy from and get what you need that works 😅for 🌞👍🙏💖
Awesome videos
*- I hope you could get the lift parts ordered, James.*
Perhaps use that sound deadener on the ceiling in bus? Might help insulate. Keep having fun bloke
Your vintage bus is impressive .I just discovered mice and rats have re insulated my old airstream floor with shell beans and fiberglass poop .I found out you can cut the skin with a virbro saw.
Nice work,
excellent video,
