Vanessa Games People don’t like her because she’s acted as two Latina characters on shows but then supports racist comments and called Mexicans “gardeners” (her words). It’s hypocritical and people don’t take that lightly. Also, On My Block was a show with a lot of diversity and minorities as the main cast, and having a “multi-ethnic” (her words) actress play a Mexican doesn’t make sense. Hispanics don’t get much representation in Hollywood (many “white” or American actors and actresses play as Latinos instead of having Hispanic actors and actresses play them), and having Ronnie Hawk play two Latinas and then say racist things about Mexicans doesn’t sit well with the public. Hope this helps you understand.

Vanessa Games Its absolutely not ok that beauty gurus and other social media influencers do this and are equally racially insensitive, and i won’t deny that or single Ronni Hawk out. However, just because others do this doesn’t make it ok. In Ronni’s case, it reflects poorly on her because she acted as a Latina whose parents got deported. Of course we can appreciate her acting skills (by no means I’m saying she’s a bad actress, I think her acting is pretty good), but it depends on the person if they can support someone who likes Latinos for a role but then believes that Mexicans are gardeners. In my opinion, she’s a good actress, but as a Latina, I can’t support her with what she’s said (this is the case for many of the people that don’t like Ronni). Maybe she’s evolved and we can move on from the past, but I haven’t seen much evolvement.
