    I have a Sony a7c with Tamron 28-75. I've spent two days and 10 hours of research to figure out why I couldn't get the tilt to balance. It would constantly tilt hard forward and the motors wouldn't correct it. You inspired me to try a few things. I realized that the riser plate was throwing everything off. You don't need it! Thanks!!

    UPDATE: in order to "auto tune" the Ronin SC, you do not have to connect to the app each time. You just have to push the trigger button and the M button simultaneously for 4 seconds to "auto tune". You still should auto tune each time you change a lens or change the length of the lens dramatically, but at least now we know that you don't have to fire up the app every time.

    @@SePark So you got both ? I have a Weebill Lab but was going to return for SC. I have Sony A6500/A6400 when I use the remote cable it switches IBIS off and my footage looked terrible, the image transmission is not great and I cant control aperture or shutter through. My shoots are mostly staged gym and training related stuff I never do run and gun or weddings. Which is better ?

  • @SePark

    @SePark

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@vodoo5553 I hear ya! I think of Weebill Lab as a gimbal without all the app and camera control feature. It never worked 100% for me either. I also use IBIS with my gimbals as well. As for Ronin SC, it only has the record function when you hook up the cable out of the box. I kept both gimbals to keep testing it out, but I'm probably going to sell the Ronin SC when Zhiyun releases their "Gimbal S". For me, I control all the settings such as ISO and aperture straight from the camera. That way, no matter which gimbal I have, it's just second nature for me to go straight to the camera to change them. Makes me faster and more efficient down the road even if I keep switching gimbals every year. Since you can't really sell the Weebill Lab for a good price now due to price reduction, not sure Ronin SC cost is worth it for you. It doesn't have enough advantages to justify the upgrade in my opinion.

  • @vodoo5553

    @vodoo5553

    @@SePark Originally I was going to keep Weebill cause I wouldn't get much for it and like you my concern is which is more stable, portable and ease of use. The app control is not a deal breaker but when I saw how bad the footage was without IBIS it gave concern cause I wanted to get A6400 which has no IBIS. Right now I can get a FULL REFUND for Weebill, that's why I considered SC. If you could get full refund and swap what would you do having used both ??

    Awesome video my good man! Any chance you’d be down to filming a video that shows the steps to properly balance the Sony 16-35mm GM lens on the DJI Ronin-SC? There are literally no videos that cover this with a Sony mirrorless camera without adding counter weights but your footage was amazing without adding anything extra which is a huge relief to see! A shame there’s no way to prevent the viewfinder from hitting the motor... lol. Thanks in advance for your time! Cheers!

    Thanks Paul. Shot another wedding with it yesterday and it definitely bounces up and down. Orbiting moves on the other hand is smoother than the Weebill. Without much setting change, it's more organic and predictable. I'm going to try to match the Weebill setting similar to how Ronin SC reacts. It's little more humanly intuitive.

    I just want to add, for anyone who is considering this question, go try to hold a Ronin S before purchasing it. If your arm doesn't start to tremble after holding it for 10 minute straight, you are worthy of such tool. 😂 The locking axis plays a big part though. Ronin S flaps around so much during transport, but if you need that extra load capacity, it is one of the best!

    Hey Tim! I actually used the Tamron 28-75 as my main lens before my current Sigma 24-70. The Sigma definitely has more vibrance especially when the lighting is not ideal. Just out of physical stand point, the front lens element on Sigma is so much bigger, allowing more details in before hitting the aperture blade. @@TimandLauren haha Vu really puts that lens to good use. Colors are subjective but the difference is very miniscule until you get into darker situations. Tamron also doesn't focus as well in the dark as the Sigma. Having used both for awhile, I think they are both great lens. That extra 4 mm on the wide side is what got me to Sigma. :)

    @@TimandLauren I currently have one particle that's inside my Sigma 24-70. It's towards the corner, and it's just that one. I find these zoom lens are always prone to dust since they breathe air in and out. If it's on a brand new lens, I do usually exchange it. In order to be a problem, the dust particle will have to be huge and smack in the middle of the rear lens element. I wouldn't worry too much about the tiny ones in the front element.

    So would a Weebill Lab work better with the Tameron 28-75? @Se Park

  • @SePark

    @SePark

    5 жыл бұрын

    Jj Li both are good on 28-75 since Ronin SC will still handle the lens when you zoom to about 50mm. Once you get to 16-35mm GM weight range, Weebill has more space and more power on the motor to handle those heavier lenses. Hope that helps!

    Can you zoom with the 28-75mm while still being able to balance it, or can it only be balanced on 28mm?

  • @SePark

    @SePark

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Chris! Ideally, you would balance it around 50 mm to evenly go between 28-75mm, but anything above 28mm will result in the eye piece hitting the back motor. The motor is however strong enough to withstand all the way up to 75mm even though you balanced it at 28mm. For a wedding shoot, I balanced it at 28mm, and I mostly used the lens between 28-50 mm, and then when I had to I went to 75mm without any issues.

  • @SePark

    Hi! For Tamron 28-75, not so much since it's front element is fairly light. I balanced it at 28mm and zoom it to 75mm and the motor handled it fine long as you are not running. I would think that most 75mm gimbal moves would be slow since there is a lot of parallax to begin with. Hope that answer helps. Thanks so much for watching!

    @@jetfree730 how is this for answering soon? LOL. I hope I can give you a best answer possible, but I do not own that combo. I did look into it at one point, and I don't see a problem why it would not support it. 1. if you are going to control the focus, the 28-75 has the focus and zoom ring reversed. Which means the focus ring is definitely not out of reach. 2. The 28-75 focus and zoom rings are not as tight as some other lenses like the Sigma 24-70. Which means the motor won't have a difficult time rotating the mechanism. That's the best answer I can provide you without owning one, but I'm sure you have gathered some information already and that helps. Thanks for watching!

    Hey brother, i hope you are doing well! First thing, i just subscribed to your channel, you have got some great content for a learner like me. So i m a beginner video maker. I used to edit some of my hand held videos for instagram and stuff like that on premier pro. But now i m thinking of getting a gimbal. So I’ve looked at almost all of them and i m not so sure which one should i choose. Plus i m thinking of getting a used one, because i dont have a lot of money right now to spend on a brand new! 1. First option I’ve got is a ronin sc in 300 Canadian dollars. Person claims it to be barely used 2. Second i found one weebill lab for 275$ which from scratches, looks a little more used. 3. Another ronin SC pro combo for 350$. i m not sure what option does pro combo has over the regular SC. Please let me know man. It will be much appreciated!

    Hi Harsimran, welcome to the channel! Glad to see you that you're starting your gimbal journey. It makes a huge difference so I'm excited for you. As for choices, it really depends on your camera setup. Ronin SC as you saw is limiting in the future as you get larger lenses, and same with Weebill Lab. Having said that, I am going to be doing a Weebill Lab giveaway this month, so assuming you're from Canada? you would be eligible to enter. Of course it's not a guarantee to win, but it's something. Honestly if you're paying for it, Weebill S may be your best scalable choice. Can I ask what camera and lens you are planning to use?

    Nice! That’s very similar to what I started with. You won’t use that telephoto lens on a gimbal much so technically any of these gimbals will hold your camera. You just have to think what your upgrade path might be. I still think Weebill S is your best choice if you plan on upgrading down the road. At that price range it is most scalable because the large cradle space. You never know how fast you will grow out of your camera. Of course you will get the best deal out there.
