As a Messi fan even if he didn’t win he’s still a legend

His passion for the game is truly on another level

Just pointing out, this is a man who 6months before the World Cup lost one of his newborn children, failed to get on with his new manager at his current club, facing constant media and fan negativity whilst feeling that all his team and people he once thought were close to him were not so, before being let go from his club. The only thing he really has left to aim for is the World Cup which he wants, not just for himself but for his country and team as well. Despite scoring multiple times in the World Cup he is still benched and one on occasion not played at all. Only being given a minute amount of time in the final match against Morocco, they are knocked out. Facing the prospect of knowing that no club he wants to play at will sign him and having lost potentially the last World Cup he’ll ever play, I have nothing but absolute respect for this man and 100% understand how he is feeling walking down that tunnel.

I can relate more to all of his failures than half of his accomplishments. This moment reminded me that Ronaldo’s human after all. But seeing him in the state you just described and then watching Messi, his greatest rival, lifting the world cup had me feeling defeated for weeks ngl. I swear I think I’ve never felt more defeated and hopeless than in the period right after the WC; and til this day it still hurts watching back this moment.

What did they do wrong? Not pick him? Second round turned out to be the most successful game of their campaign. Did they not come over and hug him like he is some kind of baby and as if it is not also their loss? You honestly think they have to run after him down the tunnel after him? He's the most experienced player, he should be consoling them. Are you a part time football fan who thinks a Portugal game is the CR7 show? That's the problem, it's awful for the mindset of the team and he plays into that by always running off the pitch when he doesn't get his own way. Funny it happened at Man U and then with the Portugal national team, but it's those two totally unrelated entities fault and not Ronaldo's? Very ungraceful exit to his career, unlike Messi lifting the World Cup.

Many people were making fun of him after his crying video went viral. Give him a break, he's only human. We all cry for petty things like low score in exams, relationship, not getting a gift etc but this guy just lost the match he worked his whole life for, its easier to make fun of someone in their rainy days but no one will see their hardwork. Im from madeira island, i had a honor to meet him a few times, his motivation as always been the same since he was young, it was very hard for him to leave younger the island , because no one had time to teach him "if you lose its ok" ,he still has that, and he will always have it, that is his motivation,always want to win,and he dosnt know what is to lose..dosnt matter the club, the country or the league,you will always notice when he loses, in my opinion that was what make it him one of the greatest ever, others at some point give up or quit, he will never do that

Well, you can not choose your awards and achievements. That is why you appreciate more when you win them.

Winning the World Cup is the greatest achievement in football, so many great players retired with out lifting it.

This will live as one of the most iconic yet devastating moments in football history. The way that fan got tackled right after stepping on the pitch is beyond me. Ok, being serious now, as a Barcelona fan and Messi fan, it did hurt seeing Cristiano like that. It was at that moment where many people realized that greatness doesn’t last forever. His career is stuff of legends.

Very passionate footballer, Ronaldo so badly wanted to bring the ultimate glory to Portugal. It wasn't meant to be, and that's what hurts.

This 1:21 minutes video gave me valuable life lessons: 1) no matter how many battles you have won people will only remember ur loss 2) in ur good times everyone will take credit but in ur bad time no one will console u 3) no matter how great u r, u cannot win against time, time is the most absolute thing 4) 1:15 to 1:19 , u cannot see ronaldos name coz of shadow that just explains that some day u r gonna die enjoy ur life to the fullest even the smallest things 5) no matter how much hard work u have done sometimes u cannot get everything u want in ur life.

It's like a movie scene but it's real life..man what a tragedy that he couldn't achieve his ultimate goal...may he find peace in accepting this disappointment
